I'm sorry to ask, but I've read about 10 pages in to find information on this. I've looked at other websites and asked my alliance. I can't find any information anywhere on probing for wrecks. Any help?

What exactly is your question.

1: Can you probe for wrecks. 2: If there a way to find wrecks left behind by others. 3: If any of these are possible, how would you be able to perform these actions.

AFAIK
You cannot scan for wrecks. You scan for players.
I'm pretty sure this is the case because right after I logged in, I had like 20 people warp to my Abaddon in dodxie one after another while I was just floating around in the middle of space, with not a single wreck or even mission complex in my area.
To scan for players you need a Expanded Probe launcher I or something like that.

I'm not certain either. Under the heading Cosmic Anomaly, there is now a checkbox marked "Wrecks". I tried probing in Penirgman yesterday morning with only that checked, and got no responses. I suppose it's possible there were no wrecks in the system, and it's not as bad as Dodixie or Motsu, but there are still a lot of mission runners there. I tend to think you can't find just wrecks. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

1: No, the option on the scan filter for Wrecks is useless at least for now. 2: No 3: No
Note that you CAN use the Directional Scanner to see where wrecks are within up to ~13AU of your location, but you can't warp to them.
Ninja Salvagers have to scan for you/your drones and warp to or bookmark your location while you are still in the mission. ----- I'm a collector! Want to trade? See my Collection List and contact me. |

1. as posted previously, no. 2. it is actually possible to find these wrecks, although I would say it is purely luck. 3. this has happened to me twice purely by chance: I have seen wrecks on scan and I happened to warp through the grid with the wrecks. They appeared briefly on my overview (as I happened to have wrecks visible in my settings). When I came out of warp, I was fortunate to have warped from a bookmark so I could drop a bookmark and warp back. Again, the wrecks blipped onto the overview for a second. I repeated the trip back and forth dropping bookmarks until I ended up just off grid with the wreck field over 150km away on my overview.
I guess that the mission was a level 4 since there were lots of large wrecks. Now, I would say that this is a really useless way of finding wrecks. I tracked down this field only because I was curious when the wrecks popped up on my overview, but I certainly wouldn't waste time trying to line up wreck fields to warp through (even if that is possible).

In reply to Jauqs. Statistical anomaly anyone? We usually warp around at 3.0 au/second. One AU is defined as approx 93 million miles/155 mil kilometers. Just invent a number of maybe 400k as viewable range when not moving around the cosmos in warp. 150+k either side of your boat in missions or mining/whatever. Screen updates maybe every 1.5 secs in warp or so. Let's assign estimated warp speed at about 450 million k/sec. 1.5 sec screen update. So every screen update represents a random snapshot of about 675 million kilometers of linear distance. Hmmm, grab the calculator. 1,687,500. Wootness for nerds. You have a 1 out of 1,687,500 chance of the screen updating at the precise moment when you are within range of them there cans. This of course assumes you fly directly over the epicenter of the cans, rather than having them even slightly to the side of your circular scan range. Cus, let's see, if you were 60k off from a direct fly over.....................................
Bah, suffice it to say I'll PAY you to buy my lottery tickets for me from now on.

It has happened to me a few times, where objects appear briefly on the overview while warping, but it was at the beginning or end of my warp.

It happens a lot more than that. It has happened to me several times in a row when I was playing catch the frig between a planet and gate (and we were both in warp), so it's probably not how it works.
I don't think the solar systems actually scale at warp speed.
