Imagine:
- Broken Concord (High security = not so secure) - No sentrys at gates or stations = (0.4 = 0.0) - No insurance - No "warp at 0 kms" or IJBM's - Jump in "spawn" always on the same place - Warp in on gates at 20 Kms (needed to MWD your away to the gate or be ganked) - No WCS
Another word for it was "unplayable."

In another words "You weren't here". It WAS playable but in a completly diferent way. A game NOT for "handicaped" people.

Q - Do you remember Armageddon day? (last beta day)
A - No, never got on beta
Q - Do you remember all the colourfull roids?
A - Not especially
Q - Do you remember all of us flying frigates and trying to buy a Moa BPO?
A - I think it was a Vexor for us but yeah. Pitiful isn't it?
Q - Do you remember when you could actually flee Concord unpunished?
A - Oh yes. I remember Sally/Molly self-destructing her BS up in Yulai (IIRC - one of the hubs back then anyway) in what was, back then an amazing emoragequit .
Q - Do you remember camping the gate jump in points?
A - Possibly
Q - Do you remember no cloak after jump?
A - Yes although it seems very strange now.
Q - Do you remember M0o?
A - j0rt podded (podkilled) me in Syndicate just after the rare ores got moved out of empire. He gave me a chance to run and I was too noob to take it The downside was of course no clones so that little incident cost me a week's SPs
Q - Do you remember no targeting delays or undock invulnerabilities?
A - Yes. That WAS fun
Q - Do you remember the big guns poping small ships in one shot at any distance or speed?
A - No tracking, optimal or falloff? Oh yes I remember popping 4 members of Mercenary Frigates on my way back to Assah using 250mm proto gauss guns. Their Rifters more or less went pop instantly and I didn't bother altering the course of my Thorax in any way. Just a tad over powered
Q - Do you remember Ninja mining in a frigate?
A - Yes but it was mining
Quote:
and more...?
like Stain being the richest area in-game (or close to), ejecting from ships just before dock to get a pod, can-spam, Sarum Prime being low-sec , Mara-Passari, yeah I remember pretty much all of 2003. It was fun.

mining all day every day so your corp could get everyone into a mighty cruiser... tech 2 was a promise and a dream no agents/missions that worked mining
M0o blew me up more than once
I was in beta and the first 9 months when the game was terrible. Sorry. It was terrible. I quit.
Now, a year+ after I've returned, and I love it. So much more to do, to think about..

I'm not sure, but I think Interceptors came out in the same patch that 'nerfed' missiles. So I don't think it was ever possible to have Cruise on a Crow.
I still have a Cruise Kestral and a Torp Caracal somewhere.
Cavalry Ravens were a blast...literally.

1 - Projectiles and Missile Turrets required cap to fire (projectile/missile spec pilot with controled bursts IV trained) 2 - Industrial ship mining overnight was a viable way to make extra isk 3 - Able to do 99% of level 3 missions and 50% of level 4 in a Rifter 4 - Agents actually comparing NPC pirates to M0o in mission descriptions 5 - No salvage, and no ownership rights on loot cans from mission NPCs (sucked when you had a wave mission on a system gate); in fact, no ownership rights on ANY jet cans period.
Character bday is September '04, but was in the game 6 months prior to that with a different character. ------------------------------------------------ SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES! |

I remember when my old CEO undocked for the first time in his tempest. We looked at the stats and were absolutely convinced he was invincible, even though it was fully fitting with mining lasers. He told us how much it cost to insure it and my heart sunk because I would NEVER have enough ISK to insure that ship, little lone buy one. Let's face it, there were no 60 million ISK missions, in fact if there were missions no one I knew cared about them. Ratting and pvp were the only combat options that made any sense, and 50k bounties were important kills.

I started 2 days after release. I remember my friend said we needed to be in 0.0 so we drove straight there (Fountain) in our noob ships. We were clueless. That was a rough time.
Eve seemed HUGH then. It took forever to get somewhere.
I spent hours and hours chain killing rats to get bounties so I could buy my first battleship.
I don't ever remember feeling safe. We were always on our toes.
First PvP kill..... I was in a Megathron with rails on a gate in low sec doing guard duty. m0o used that gate a lot to enter Fountain. A friendly hauler popped in at 15km and started driving to the gate. Seconds later some guy in a blackbird warped in right behind him and started shooting him up. My brain screamed "The hauler is a friendly! You have to protect him!" and opened fire on the blackbird. The gate guns opened fire on me.
I had forgotten about being in low sec. My heart started racing like mad. I instantly started to sweat. It took weeks to earn enough isk for a battleship. I had just put mine on the line.
The hauler was taking damage. I was ripping the blackbird to bits. The gate guns were tearing me up. It was a race to see who died first. There was no jamming. The blackbird was set up with missles (seems crazy now I know). He made no attempt to turn the hauler loose.
Time crawled. Every volley seemed to take forever to cycle. I aligned towards a planet. I spewed a steady stream of profanities towards the Blackbird pilot. The damage on both our ships crawled into structure.
Suddenly he exploded! I didn't stop to enjoy it. I warped to the planet.
And then the rush......
I giggles like an idiot for almost 15 minutes. I started convoying everyone telling them about my kill. The hauler pilot thanked me over and over. I felt like a bad ass.
IT WAS FREAKING GREAT!
(Note: I did all this with another character. The drunk is only for posting.)

I remember mining my ASS off to get into my thorax. God damn I spent days just flying around ship spinning in the beauty. I also remember doing missions for ages before my corp figured out social skills. That and flying to gates and seeing someone doing the wave mission 200km from you. I remember when my corp mate was the first to get a Covert Ops cloak out to Solitude and our entire alliance sat outside the station as he cloaked and approached one of us to decloak and everyone on teamspeak going "WOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAH"
Eve was such a hard but rewarding game back then. Now everyones flying around in carriers/pimped out faction BS's and Titans are thrown into battle just for the lulz. :(
