I've started this thread in hope some of you have stories/pics/videos related with EVE Beta/EVE launch 2003. (Dev help would be so good )
Do you remember Armageddon day? (last beta day)
Do you remember all the colourfull roids?
Do you remember all of us flying frigates and trying to buy a Moa BPO?
Do you remember when you could actually flee Concord unpunished?
Do you remember camping the gate jump out points?
Do you remember no cloak after jump?
Do you remember no targeting delays or undock invonurabilities?
Do you remember the big guns poping small ships in one shot at any distance or speed?
and more...?
How the game has evolved is amazing, revolutionary in 2003, mindblowing in 2009.
EVE 06/05/2003.
PS: My char made 6 years yesterday

Seriously, there needs to be a stickied thread somewhere with all the lore and history of player-driven EVE.
I, as a new player feel like I have missed too much.

Do you remember the navitas as the gallente n00b ship? Mining arkonor in a n00b ship with no rats in belt... The great Cruiser chase...and nobody bothered to search out the minmatar one but EVERYONE wanted to kill the 'rax. Discovering learning skills and going...ohhhhhhhh... ...a tier 1 cruiser being your BEST ship. :D

The days of Torp Blackbirds with perma jamming EW, camping system "jump in" points with no gate guns or concord.

Do you remember no autopilot? Do you remember manually looking for the gate?
This character is not from 2003, but I do remember.

Yup. The Beta event.
I still kinda miss the old map. Haven't fully adjusted to the new one, so I use 2D maps.

That was fun, I think that event helped get the server population above 500 or 600 :)

didn't the game have no AP originally, and you had to figure out how the hell to get to where you wanted to go one jump at a time? ----------------------

yeah I wasn't around then. I can't remember exactly what borkt things were around when i was a noob, I remember the macro accounts accepting 1isk Escrows the second they were up, which is why we've got a delay every time you search for something on contracts.
I remember the old EW that used to perma jam stuff if your jammers had more points than the ship did, but not before the missile change to stop them firing torps/cruise. I think if you didn't have enough points to jam somebody they'd act abit like sensor damps and increase their lock time, but i'm not sure about that. ----------------------

In 2003 EVE wasn't for the weakminded. EVE was the hardest HARDCORE MMORPG ever created.
Imagine:
- Broken Concord (High security = not so secure) - No sentrys at gates or stations = (0.4 = 0.0) - No insurance - No "warp at 0 kms" or IJBM's - Jump in "spawn" always on the same place - Warp in on gates at 20 Kms (needed to MWD your away to the gate or be ganked) - No WCS

Slightly more recently...warp bumping. Having a corpmate warp into you as you approached a gate and being bumped 2000km away at 1000m/s plus.

And Bookmark trading was rife. BM's was killing the servers due to all the BM's being installed.
I do remember Armageddon day, oh the fun we had taking on Concord and the stations :)

For players that whine about everything in EVE i recommend reading carefully this thread. Could you EVER had survived in such a BRUTAL game that was EVE Online at 2003?!

I joined in december 03, eve was harsh, a constant struggle to survive.
I remember cruisers being really expensive and battleships being rare sites! Took me months of mining in my imicus before i could afford my almighty thorax. It cost me a ***ping 7 mil.
Isk was actually hard to come by. You had to work your ass off to get anything. Its too easy nowdays, everybody is flying about in expensive fit t2 ships and battleships. People can afford there own capitals no problem which is wrong imo. Isk should be much harder to make then it is now.
