If you use a Nighthawk why would you ever want to DOWNGRADE to a Tengu ?

If you got one you may as well whip it out and wave it around.

I'm got everything except the rigs. Throws 800+ dps out to 50km (with impants), 800+ dps omni tank (perma, use crystal for better results) 600+m/s with AB (perma)
Not ridiculously expensive, only the booster.

Downgrade? It's faster, does more dps, fits a stronger active tank, and actually has the grid to handle pvp. Only thing the nighthawk does better is gang boost and passive tank.

Anyone use the Tengu for cloaking? Can I get a setup request for that as well?

Well then, if it's a GAME you want to have FUN playing, you might also have FUN playing it by flying that Tengu with whatever fit you feel like fitting on it FOR FUN instead of asking for a "good setup" over here. Because when you come here and ask for a setup, people like me assume you want PERFORMANCE instead of FUN, and if it's FUN you want you maybe should have mentioned that too.
Here's how your OP should have read:
"hey, I've almost used the search, but then I remembered I never find anything so I'd thought I'd just make a new thread I have way too much ISK and plan to blow some off by buying a Tengu, to fly with it as a joke into L4 missions in the laggiest hellhole of the game I have absolutely no clue what I want except that maybe I'd prefer to not die very fast, and everything else is irrelevant because I just want to flaunt it as a highly visible e-peen before it gets suicide-ganked or something I already have a NH, but I never actually considered making almost exactly the same fit on the Tengu since I haven't bought one yet, oh and could you tell me which subsystems I should buy too ?"
Or something like that... if I understood what you just said correctly.

Originally by: Akita T Faster, yes. And you forgot smaller. More DPS, hell no. NH outdamages it at max skills if you also consider the drones' damage. Stronger tank, meh, arguable. Sig damage reduction WOULD play a large role, so in the end, I'd grant you it can tank better. And he's not using it for PVP.
Tengu pulls ahead in dps with 2 damage mods.

Check out my setup with Heavy Assault with range extension rigs and see if you agree.. I can squeeze in a Heavy Assault fit on the NH with range rigs, but I won't have the reach like Tengu....

RAW numbers, you are correct, and I have ammended that in the post above. The problem is, if you go with HAMLs or with fury heavies, you get some pretty serious damage reduction coming in, and the NH gets up to 25% better mitigation from the expvelo bonus which you DON'T get on the Tengu, and a single painter WON'T fully compensate for without it. Also, unless you're always hitting kin-weak enemies (which arguably you could most of the time, but I bet you can't avoid each and every rogue drone, sansha and blood raider mission), the drones make quite a big difference in effective DPS applied too.

While NH does have an advantage on small targets, Heavy Assault Missile isn't exactly ineffective on them like torp is. I, myself, am more concerned about taking down the BS where RAW damage does apply with HML and HAM. NH tend to waste most of it's time wearing down the tanked BSs
Not going to get into an argument on which is the ultimate mission runner, but Tengu is certainly not a downgrade IMO.

When you don't have any drones AT ALL and you're firing HAMs at frigates and destroyers, you WILL lose just about as much time on them as you would lose with the NH on the larger targets considering the typical L4 mission make-up.
Ok, maybe I was a bit too hasty, and it's not _exactly_ a downgrade, in some missions you might be better off. But I still stand by my conclusion that NH would do better _overall_ in spite of worse raw figures. And it's much, much cheaper.

Btw, the tengu has a stronger rof bonus which means it actually comes out farther ahead on missions where they aren't weak to kin. Doubling your damage by hitting their weakest resist is well worth losing the 25% kin bonus.
