I know storylines affect faction standings raising friendly and lowering enemy and giving a big boost to the corp you ran it for, but I have a couple questions regarding corp standings.
Do standings w/ NPC corps go down as a result of completing missions for other corps?
i.e. If I do a mission for a Caldari corp, will it affect any standings with Gal corps?
I know you need a high standing with a faction to put a POS up in their space, are there any other benefits to a high faction standing that can't be gained with high corp standings?

Edited by: Marine HK4861 on 13/05/2009 19:02:43 Standings with other corps will never be affected by derived standing changes, either with other corps or factions.
You can lower standing with a corp by shooting their ships (either in missions or their convoys) or failing their missions.
The only other benefits of having high faction standing is ease of access to that faction's agents and at very high faction standing (9.0+) you can visit that faction's COSMOS agents and pick up 1 run BPCs for faction navy ships as a one-off reward.
Edit: typo

Just to clarify, completing missions for an enemy corp will lower your faction standings. If faction standing drops below -2 (after skills) you will not be able to do missions for any agent of any corporation within that faction, no matter what your standing to the individual corp might be.

I don't think this clarifies a whole lot; it's actually confusing. Completing missions doesn't lower any faction standing unless it's a storyline mission or you shoot another faction's ships (in which case completing the mission isn't the problem but the shooting is - if you shoot but don't complete the mission you still have the loss)
