Ok seriously what the ****, why was this taken away from -10 players
**** needs to get put back ASAP
I know that you can custom configure your overview etc etc, but we should be flashing by default.
I like flashing, I know everybody I have talked with in game likes being flashy, I can't see any reason for them taking it away.
It can't be for any simplicity reason, it has long been known that when somebody is flashing red you can engage at will.
Plus this really jacks up some premade overview settings. Now you can't tell between corps you have set red, -10 people, people that have aggression vs you etc unless you go in and jack around with everything again.
I know this is c&p, we're not going to get any real answer from anybody that knows, I'm just venting

Agreed. The whole point of getting -5 and below for me is that I'm flashing red and random people want to shoot me. If I lose that, why bother?

I actually set every icon to flash, excluding the outlaw thing, will the patch **** up my overview settings? -----------------------------------------

i have flashy red/nonflashy yellow turned off most of the time, and i just grinded off outlaw on req.
still, disappointing

I'm pretty sure they did this so that nubbins wouldn't fire on ye olde -10 pirate on a gate, falsely believing that the gate guns would end up on their side instead of them just sitting idly by and watching them go down in flames.
If I parsed the settings as they are now, you're only getting flashed if someone has some personal or corp aggro against you. (Which, apparently includes wartargets now) I wonder if it also includes folks on your can kill list?
I'm going to have to go through my overview settings again several times to get it right again. *le sigh* --

As much as it sucks, it was annoying to not have wartargets and militia not flash before even though they were valid targets.

It is annoying to know that people don't know that you can toggle blink feature in the overview.

I'm not sure I totally understand but the wording here makes it sound like they were talking about people who have a 15 minute GCC, not people who are negative sec status. Obviously I could be wrong and I haven't logged in since the patch... can anyone verify that -5 to -10 sec status players are actually now not blinky by default in the overview? Indeed, that's what I originally thought. But it doesn't make sense to be honest. It would make sense if someone with a GCC was blinky, and someone -5 to -10 with no GCC wasn't, as that would mean you could fire at the blinky guy and know you would have help from sentries.

I haven't really read exactly what CCP changed, but I can tell you some annoyances I had pre-patch (havent checked post patch tho)
If you create an overview setting that shows only friendlies (fleet/corp/alliance/militia members) you HAD to enable it to show flashy reds or otherwise ppl in your corp/alliance/fleet/militia with a sec status of below -5 would NOT show up on your overview.
I am not sure if this is the reason they changed it, but it would make sense. Personally it annoyed me immensly when I found this out trying to find someone in overview that was called out for remote reps by FC only to notice like half of my fleet members didnt show up on my 'friendly' overview __________________________________________________

I don't mess with that stuff too much, but I assume if he turned on outlaws, he'd see them AND fleet/corp/whatever members. That would ruin the purpose of a 'friendly' overview.
Edit; and why use the overview to target people for RR when they can just broadcast it?

As he said, for RR. And as I said, there's no real point with the broadcast feature. But if you want to RR a member of another fleet, but still friendly, or someone who isn't fleeted at all, it would help.

uh... about that
any situation where there are enough friendlies that you need a separate overview tab to deal with them all, if there are a comparable number of hostiles on grid, swapping overview tabs is going to lag you out for 3-5 seconds pretty reliably

Me too, because it was buggy like ****. Soon as corp/fleet/alliance-dudes jumped in/out with a flashy on same overview they got mixed up, and soon I started to have purple, green, and blue flashes, with the red and yellow either completely disappear, appear on wrong character, or just not flash.
I removed it and sticked to the small coloured boxes, which works flawless. Colouring the whole bar was ****ed up. I was in space, two neutrals wich had secstatus below zero... And friendly (blue standings, not in fleet)...
Well the friendly one showed as yellow too, it didn't show the blue at all...
I had to check out the names from overview and compare them to allychat...
EDIT: Of course when I am in fleet, no fleet mates aren't in overview.

Aye I know ppl can (and should) just use the broadcasting for remote reps which is easier and faster but still.
There are other reasons besides RR to have friendly overview settings.
I personally have one for ALL SHIPS, BATTLESHIPS, CAPITALS and SUB BATTLESHIPS. This is easy to quickly asses the makeup of your fleet (in case you are the FC or something).
Regardless, the flashy outlaw setting was screwing with that causing settings to overlap/cancel eachother out and I can totally understand CCP changing it. __________________________________________________

Four out of my five tabs don't show fleet-, alliance-, corp-mates or those with positive standing. The final one shows all. When it's less than 5 guys running around, there's RR and/or I need/want to stay close to friendlies, I got it showing.

1) i am not stupid enough that i have to have them on overview to find out where they are in order to stay close to them 2) i fly in rr gangs about 5x bigger than yours at the minimum and i have no problem using broadcasts to figure out who is taking damage
