Functionality and purpose aside, just lay it out: what do you think is the prettiest, coolest, most bad-ass looking vessel cruising the galaxy?
My vote is the Amarr Shuttle. Sure, it's a shuttle, but it's got to be the niftiest looking craft I can think of. It looks kind of like a Star Wars A-Wing Fighter on steroids-- faster'n'hell and ready to kick some backside.
Pity it is just a shuttle.

I'd have to say megathron I also like the look of the enyo but I have only seen the picture not the actual ship yet.

I really like the looks of the Caracal, and the Armageddon.
Although I think the Omen looks quite nice as well.

Rifter (and the assault versions propably) and Megathron, pretty similar looks on them although I must say Rifter ultimately looks better due to the more rugged look. The picture of the Gallantean Battlecruiser looks promising on the Shiva pages but hard to judge from that picture - the Minmatarr BC looks neat too...

Oddly enough, though I'm a fan of Gallente designs, I don't care for the megathron. Reminds me too much of Star Blazers or something.
For me, it's two of their frigates: the Tristan and the Maulus. They both have a cool vertical setup that I like a lot. The Tristan has those big armored arms, and the Maulus looks like the bastard offsprint of Slave I and some kind of limpet.. strange, but cool.
Of the new ships, I gotta say that the ORE barges have some nice lines to 'em. Though the Amarr CA (battlecruiser) looks like something you'd expect Vogons to fly, so you gotta give it points for militant ugliness. And I would so much love to fly one of those freaky beetle-looking Sansha ships.
Of those we're still waiting for, the Minmatar Titan has got to be my favorite. Just the way it looks like flying city slash space garbage dump.

I like the Armageddon, although the back of it is sorta small and lanky. The Apoc is nice. Megathron is great looking, but does anyone else think it looks like a backwoods double-barrelled shotgun?
They need to add an updated design on all ships. I've heard rumors, but nothing solid yet. I will be happy with whatever, especially if I don't see any "Type R" stickers, Neon lightbulbs, or racing stripes on the models.

A nice second is the Raven - it's the only ship besides the mammoth that actually LOOK like a battleship - something you'd expect in Starwars or the Fifth Element or any other big epic space combat movie.

The Merlin is also great... and the Kestrel... and the Blackbird... and the Moa... and the Caracal... and the Scorpion... and the Osprey... heck I love all Caldari ships except the hideous Griffin ^^

Best looking cruiser by far and perhaps the best looking ship in the game.

Gotta be the megathron. I started as Caldari but after seeing a megathron it has been THE ship I wanted. I currently have BS2 and i'm working on getting the mega/zyd I need for my own mega :)

My favorite cruisers are the Stabber (only non symmetrical ship I like), Arbitrator, and Bellicose.
Gallante Shuttle beats the pants offa the Amarr shuttle.
Only frigs I like are the Rifter, Executioner, and Punisher. Would like the Slasher but it has that stupid neck.
As for BSes, only the Armageddon really. Backend of the Typhoon looks too unfinished for me.

I really like how Ravens and Scorps look with their bright lights and dark colors... but there is no variation in textures for either.. One texture + a red stripe.. looks stupid

I don't like how Caldari ships look, but I respect their choice in asthetics. More than any other race, the Caldari emphasize straight, functional, powerful lines in all their vessels. Their no-bones-about-it grey coloring makes them look like standard hard-line military ships, exactly as they should.
Minimatar, on the other hand, look like they are just poorly cobbled together. Even their battleships look like they'd break apart in the slightest solar wind. I also have a certain appreciation for Minimatar vessels (hell, the Probe is one of my favorite all-time vessels), but to me, at least, Minimatar ships seem to often have too much going on, far too many parts sticking out in like 50 different directions. Exceptions to this rule are ships such as the Probe or the Stabber, and these are also arguably some of the better looking ships in the game. Coincidence? I think not.
Gallente ships look like they were built by... well... the French. They are, in most instances, far too pretty to look at. Only the Megathron and the new Battlecruiser really have powerful, forceful lines... the rest of them are just billowy-- almost wavy in their designs.

Velator (gallente starting ship) is the best looking ship. I sometimes fit out one with some named gear and go hunt in high sec space with it just to fight in a real good looking ship.

All Gallente ships are beautiful with the exception of the Imicus, which doesn't try hard enough, and Megathron, which tries too hard. I like the understated power, the solid heft of the Vexor and Dominix.

My personal preferences are to ships with a symmetry to them... I prefer the ships that stand out from the rest of the race's ships in some dramatic way.. the Merlin does this well, it's very symmetrical, and has a utilitarian attractiveness to it. The Vigil is one of my favorite Minmatar ships, along with the elite Breacher that guards our gates - the regular breacher looks spindly and fragile, but the elite one with the solid silver "sails" is very authoritative. As far as cruisers go, the best looking ones are the Arbitrator and the Thorax - the Arbitrator is very attractive, and looks like it means business (even though we all know it's useless) and the Thorax is elegant, attractive and powerful, even though it has an unfortunate resemblance to a certain portion of the male anatomy. Battleships have an unfortunate tendancy to be horrible looking - I do like the Megathron for it's clean lines, although it doesn't look like it's scaled properly (it looks like it should be a fast frigate, like the Rifter) and I also like the Tyrant (Archangel Battleship), it would be very attractive if "cleaned up" and didn't look quite so filthy-dirty.

Arbitrator - beautiful ship model, the "glass" panels that reflect the ambient lighting are a nice touch. What's really cool is with the second bonuses on cruisers, this is now my ship of choice for Level 3 Agent "Kill" missions (haven't tried the Mordus with it yet).
