I have noticed that most of the polymers in Jita can be made but at a loss. Apparently, from looking at buy and sell orders someone is maybe doing some market manipulation? There are buy orders up for 4.1xxx and sell orders up for 4.8xxx. Suddenly someone comes in and starts putting sell orders up for 4.1xxx The exact number as the buy order. Why would someone do this when they could just sell it to the buy orderer? There has to be a reason for this... ? It's been happening for almost a week.

Probably tried to sell to a buy order but didn't realize they were actually putting up a sell order. |

if you have 10 items and sell to a buy order that wants to buy 5 but you try to sell all 10 5 items will appear as a sell order for whatever the buy order was |

Someone sold more items into a buy order then the buy order was setup for. If you have advanced options activated when selling, you actually create a sell order. So the leftover items are then a sell order. I like these... :) |

Not really. You don't pay any fees for using the simple interface if all you're doing is dumping into buys. If you're selling into buy orders and not using the simple interface, you're just wasting isk. |

you realise that it's generally a good idea to read replies that don't quote anything as a response to the post directly above them right? Please show me what I missed:

How does this save on fees? In this scenario, one should dump into the buy order with the simple interface, then set up an advanced sell order for the rest. Setting up an advanced order for all of it would set fees based on the original volume.
Not to mention the fact that usually when this happens, there are several buy orders near the seller's price. They simply have to dump with the simple interface multiple times. |

As others have said, people are just selling to buy orders, but they are selling more in quantity than what is in the buy order. Therefore, the extra items end up as a new sell order at a buy order level price.

Because I can purchase stuff to resell at what is effectively buy order price without the associated broker cost for setting up a buy order. It was unclear to me that you were talking about buying it up. It sounded like you were speaking from the perspective of the seller. I misunderstood you. |

This happens with all items, you'll see a sell order at a buy order price. But is seems to happen *really* often for WH products, I don't know what it is about WH people but I think they're in a rush to sell their goods so they make mistakes like this all the time. |
