Here is my proposal;
I have 1 unit of trit in Jita 4 4. I will be looking to trade (via whatever means) for another item of greater value. Then this item will become the item to be swapped.
Through the process of many trades, over time the swap item will be of considerable value. When the item reaches 1bn in value it will be sold, and the proceeds split between everyone that was involved in the swaps (me included).
So if 20 people were involved in swaps, they retain the item they swapped for and 50m for example. This isn't a scam although you have only me to trust in that respect, although even if i kept the final item you would still keep the item you swapped for.
In any case I'm not doing this for any real financial gain, just want to see how the idea is received and how far the swaps could go.

Thank you for the offer Holden Jaff, the contract prices seem a bit up and down with three under 2m (at time of posting). I will monitor the prices and decide whether to accept within the 3 days.
For now though, the swap item is still the Caracal, and the swapshop is still open to alternative offers.

Also on the swap shop in general, am thinking that a lottery for the item might be a better idea, with each swap acting as 1 ticket in the lottery.
Maybe not implemented in this run, but a future one, any thoughts? Might give people a little more impetus if they can win the final item outright, along with keeping their swap item.

Modifications of this concept may be interesting for future runs, but I think it would look better not to change the rules of the current one - after all it started already.

Not to be a nay-sayer, but the final swap for item sale is an item worth 1B, correct?
What profits the person who "swaps" you the 1B item?
People below him might swap something on the hopes of getting a decent cut of that 1B, but he's just going to be selling extremely cheaply :p

Except, again, the last "swapper" would be swapping with the hope of winning....his own item.

Yes but its still odds based, so the choice would be theirs to take, whereas with the split the money is fixed and the higher value swaps logially must compensate for the lower. Plus they might have taken part in earlier swaps (more tickets) which make it a viable option for the gambler.
You could remove the ISK cap, and either have it as time limit or swap limit.
In any case you are right in what you say, you would be getting a ticket to win an item you already own (plus the item you swapped for) so in essence you would be winning the item you swapped for which I would assume you wanted.

I'll offer 30 Sisters Combat Scanner probes at jita if interested for the drake.
I was also thinking of how to spur interest interest in the swap since I like the idea. Items have a fixed value and thus, unless someone needs them or is just having fun, some of your trades upwards will be more difficult.
As such I'd like to sponsor ten different incentive rewards to participants in your program. Each participant could be granted a number as they participate and at the end, when the goal is reached we could roll 10 random numbers from the total numbers of participants and they would win their pick of prize in the order of the rolls. Each number could win more than one prize and theoretically could participate in the swap more than once to get more than one number. Others would be welcome to add incentives as well.
Incentives
1-5 = free freighter hauling trip from any high sec location to any high sec location
6-10 = free weekly lifetime reprocessing of any grouping of items at Fed Navy or Caldari Navy stations for component minerals ( ~99% efficiency w/ standings and improving)

I like your idea, I take it by sponsor you mean you will provide those particular prizes?
If so, and seeing that this is only adding to the original proposal I don't see how anyone can loose out or object to extra prizes, and would be happy to implement the idea.
