Hello all,
the last time I played this game I used some of the handy guides in the sticky at the top. I notice now that with the expansion most of the options aren't there to select any more. Does race/bloodline etc have any bearing on your starting skills and attributes any more? If so is there a guide somewhere that has a list of all these with the current expansion? Many thanks.

There was a big change to character creation in the last expansion. Now the only difference, skill wise, between races are the racial frigate skill. Which you get to level 2 for the race you choose. That is, if you are Minmatar you get Minmatar Frigate level 2. It takes about 2 hours to train another race frigate skill to level 2.
There are no differences between bloodlines, except for which NPC corp your character will belong to.
All characters now start with the same attributes. You can change those attributes twice in the beginning and then once every year after that. Characters with less than 1.6 million skill points train at double rate.

That clears that up nicely, many thanks. So really it's all down to aesthetic choice now I guess. I suppose it's a good move to get new players started quickly but I liked being able to get a specialized character from the offset in the old days. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

Those are some older guides you read.
In the Apocrypha expansion, all races start out the exact same in terms of attributes. Race/bloodline/school/specialty only affect starting skillset to a small degree.
To compensate for this change, a "remap" system was put into place. Remaps allow you to respec your character's attributes, within limits. You can only respec once per calendar year, with new characters given one extra "freebie" to compensate for the character creation change. Use 'em wisely - remember you only get one chance per YEAR to do it, once the freebie's used.
