I had hoped the analogy with a shop, in which one sees items displayed for prices and then exchange money equal to that price for the item, would clarify it for people. I had hoped this would be an experience people could relate to and use to help them understand the exchange. However, although I tried so hard, and got so far, in the end, it doesn't even matter.

Doesn't really matter, as your posing as a retailer when in fact your really a used car salesman. Having dealt with many and i must say better salesman in the past I can see you have not researched your market place very well.
1. A great deal of the chars you have for sale are incomplete therefore won't appeal to those with extra isk top spend as they can with a bit of looking find a more complete char for around the same or less money. Those wiling to buy incomplete chars (lower skilled players looking to move to caps) will look for something cheaper.
2. You alienated a large portion of your market by letting everyone know you don't need money as you are a trillionare but are simply doing this to further pad your own wallet.\
3. You are selling essentially selling 2nd hand goods albeit with some investment of your own to improve the original product (using the car yard analogy, you detailed them for maximum profit)
4. You have fixed prices are not prepared to negotiate.. You would probably see a much faster return on your investment by pricing them slightly lower than market value and or negotiate take a slightly smaller overall profit but still have more than enough to reinvest for your next venture.. If you can't make a sizable profit from this you shouldn't be in "futures trading"..

I'm not really up on the character bazaar but do earn my living buying and selling many different and varied goods. One thing i have found over the years, businesses who have fixed maximum profit pricing are always good to watch because you can pick up good bargains at their liquidation/bankrupcy sales

Charging so much more for a toon than it's worth is ridiculous. Characters have value. You're buying characters for less than what they are worth, which is scamming. Then you scam even more by trying to sell them for 10b more than they are worth. You should be banned for that since scamming the character bazaar is against CCP rules. Obviously there's some flux in markets what with inflation and all, so maybe a 1b difference (ie you can buy a 10b toon for 9b and it wouldn't be a scam). That way you could buy it and then sell for 11b and keep 1b profit after PLEX costs.

Also, you shouldn't be able to just flip toons. You should have to have them for at least 6 months or something before you can sell them, and you should also have to have used them for some certain amount of time during those 6 months before you're allowed to sell it.

And to stop monopolies like this (ie: someone buying all of one kind of character), CCP should seed the market with more. Maybe different amounts of unallocated SP, like 20m unallocated SP toons for 10b.
