Hello there
I'm unsure on what this skill does. Does it reduce the loss on minerals when you recycle pirate loot?
Thanks

Yes, the part that the machinery at the station takes.... You will still need a good standing to the corp to remove all loss... I worship my ex-CEO Gryning

ScrapMetal processing is for NPC (and could be PC) loot what Veldspar Processing is for veldspar :)
i mean, it give ya 5% less loss of the 'uncoverable' part of reprocess. But, if you're in 50% refining station (most of empire) you'll have already 100% of the ore back if you have Ref and Ref Eff lvl5 (wich are needed for the scrapmetal skill)

Is this true? No need for scrapmetal, unless you have bad standing (read, below 6,7) or the refining equipment is not up to speed

You need scrapmetal at atleast lvl 1 to get all minerals for recycling....

It gives you :
a) An Ulcer b) 6 months training time in the level 5 requirements (refine /efficiency)to figure out what skills you could have trained instead of wasting time for 5% of cheap ores :)
currently into day 2 of 22 refinery efficiency 5 <== SUCKA ! ----------------------------------------------------- In space .. no-one can hear you munching crisps in the back seat of your Hauler ! ----------------------------------------------------- Show me the money |

5/5 @ 50% gives 99.5% yield.
Most people, myself included, don't think that the extra 0.5% is worth training Metallurgy (rank 3) to level 5. Why? Well, if you're refining loot, odds are you're a fighter, so Metallurgy level 5 will serve no other purpose.

Edited by: Bedrock on 09/09/2004 23:16:02 This is only good for an alt character. Otherwise you are really wasting your time training all the pre-reqs when you can be training something much more useful.
Currently: 14 days and 17 hours for metallurgy lvl5 + scrap metal lvl1 total

a good standing is worth more than scrapmetal proc, i have 2 alts who are 5/5 refiners, one has high standings with the imperial navy and the other has scrapmetal 5, the high standings guy is way better off in a 50% ref station than the scrap 5 guy. not really worth the time unless your going for a hardcore industry/science char.
I picked up this ace book today everyone rates it as a must buy for the budding military genius, tho ive decided to rename it as "Sun Tzu's art of the bloody obvious" |

in a 50% station Scrapmetal 1 is all you need - you will not get any more out of it , in a 30% station scrapmetal 5 will not give 100%.
High standings [6.7 or better] will always help

The skill also has potential use for shifting sheds loads of ore around. Make a load of stuff with your 700 billion units of trit, fit it all in your indy and reprocess it at the other end

That 0.5% is essential when refining small amount of loot containing megacyte/zydrine. If you refine say one unit of loot x, it will give you mega/zyd yield of 0 with 99.5%. With the 0.5% bonus the yeild is 1.
Thus you make 12k/refine more money with that last 0.5%. Times 500000 and it's hefty number.

Not that important to me due to the way I recycle loot, may be to others though I guess. Yes, if I recycle a single item that gives 1 Zyd I'll lose it, but if I save up 10 first I'll get 9 Zyd, 100 first, I'll get 99 Zyd etc. Being patient gets rid of most of that loss. I don't typically recycle until my loot hangar has 400-500 different item stacks to recycle, so it works out fine for me. __________________
