In the middle of a combat mission when the server went down, will I lose my ship??? I'm pretty new to the game and won't be able to afford a new one...

Hard to tell, I think the chances are good. What ship did you use?

Petition if you lost your ship when you are able to log back in.
I have a sneaky suspicion I may have lost my faction fit myrmidon too..

I had just bought a Hurricane and fully fitted it, didn't have enough to insure it though

Join the club. I warped to an exploration site, two Blood Followers start shooting at my Cheetah. Okay, no big deal, warp out....only I can't. Hope I didn't lose it, they don't let you into Valhalla if you get killed by noobship rats.

Edited by: Von Kapiche on 19/05/2009 14:48:14 Mael go boom, I suspect. I forsee a really stuffed petition queue....
Then again, I think the game actually stopped entirely, so maybe we're all ok.

I have a feeling there are going to be a LOT of petitions for CCP to handle after this.
Also, don't you watch Clear Skies? ALWAYS insure your ship, even if it is 30 million iskies.

If the database went down chances are it's ok.
Even if your client thinks your ship died, it can't send anything to the database. When the cluster reboots, it'll reload the last 'save' it had of the cluster (sort of like an image). If your ship was alive at the point the database fall-over, then you'll log back in to your ship. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

HOW MUCH?
Had to be done.
Since the Database fell over - even if your ship was eaten, it'll probably be a valid reimbursement case. So don't forget to say it was faction fitted!

You'll probably get it back if you petition it. Don't count on getting it back soon though... _

The client doesn't "think", it displays. If your ship died in the client, it also died on the server.

Will we be doing this all day long is the real question. Like someone stated before, if they were mature, they would take the server down and prevent a headache of petitions until they fix the problem.
Well, rather then loose a Golem, better dust off the ole Raven and do missions the old way. It'll be still fun and if the server goes down, I won't be sweating bullets about loosing a 2 billion in isk versus laughing at CCP again like when Rev came out and couldn't get out of Jita for 3 days ;-).
Who else remembers a bad release and loosing 3 or more days due to CCP not getting it right the first time?

Most people here have played MMOGs long enough to know this is something that can and will happen. It's patchday. Now you've been there, done that and hopefully learnt from it.
