So I've been playing EvE all day today. I've not had a single issue with sound until I launched my probes and started scanning.
When I did, sound would only come in through one side of my headphones, occasionally alternating to the other ear piece. Also, the sound itself is crackling and popping.
So far, the only remedy I've found to this problem is to completely turn off EvE and restart the game. That and to refrain from scanning.

It will stop once you close solar system map (at least it did before the new patch - I haven't tried it yet). Its very annoying and it makes scanning unbearable if listening to any music.

I have exact the same problem since last patch on both computers.
Everything was fine pre-patch on both computers !

I have the very same issue. The sound "screeches" (hard to explain and i dont even know if i could record it) while scanning, though leaving map screen and rotating the camera helps.
I also sometimes get this problem wenn i end my warp at a wormhole, but thats like 10% probability.
Its a 100% when scanning. |

Same here as well, sometimes it helps when i close and open the starsystemmap.
