Well, not so much prefitted, but more specific slot assignments would go a long way. Like BSes only being able to fit 4 Large weapons and any combo of Medium and Small for the rest of the slots.

You already have bonuses that pretty much dictate which weapons you use. I was actually thinking more along the lines of weapon class size. Frigs get all their slots in small, Cruisers get like maybe 4 in Medium and 2 in Small, BSes get like 4 or 5 in Large, the rest Small or Medium.
And bonuses should then apply to all three weapon levels.

I think what ruins Eve is people who think the only way to setup a ship is to give it the most powerful guns and expect it to kill everything it sees.
