I realise that cloaks disarm when you come within 2500m of an object and a message is usually displayed to say that is what has happened when it happens.
Today i had a cloak on and was at a SS i had made. Not moving. Cloak worked fine for maybe 2-3 minutes..then it turned off. No message appeared and after the cooldown time i could automatically recloak. This wouldnt happen if i were within a certain distance of an object would it ?
Is there something that i dont know about cloaks ? Ive been talking to corp mates and some other people and they seem to be experiencing that same problem. I had a corp mate tell me it had even happened with his covops cloak. Is it a bug ? Should i report/petition it ?
As a new player entering lowsec i find the cloak to be indispensable at times and has already saved me many many times.
Sorry if this is the wrong section.
Thanks in advance.

I didnt read all the patch notes so i am unsure if it's something new in game.

That would be an awesome feature but sadly, I haven't heard of it being added to the game.
Guess you better not go AFK while cloaking then ay? sXe |

A friend in corp reported this happening to her the other day. I haven't noticed it, but there might be a new bug out.

It used to happen a while back and it was a bug then, not actually a feature
I'd suggest bug reporting it (not petition, you didn't say you lost anything). Try starting your logserver, starting eve and doing it again to see if the problem can be replicated.

If your safespot is in the direct warp path between two objects then people used to be able to decloak you by warping between those objects. Not sure if it still happens, but that could be it.

I have seen the exact some effect during missions as well. slowboating 40+ km away from everything... my cloak turns off.. No reason, no sound, no nothing...
First time I was like... okay, must of been something Second time(another mission), I was like wtf!
So I did some experimenting... And guess what! If you AFK(no response in UI), your ship uncloaks.
Don't believe me? Try it for yourselves...
Cloak your ship and jump to a browser or something other. Come back a few minutes later and see your ship uncloaked.
CCP nerfed cloaking to stop people from being AFK in space.

THIS is either an awesome bug or a good feature! sounds like CCP got serious about scanning down cloaked AFKers and came up with a creative solution.
now you have to actually put in some effort to play the role of anti-ratter ninja or scout, even if that's just sitting at your desk and changing directions every few minutes.

My AFK-cloaking works perfectly. I tend to sit for hours just watching people, while being cloaked. Dunno what kind of masochist I am but I enjoy it.
Must be something situational for those who this happen to, i.e. something breaks it. Bug or not, well, that'll be hard to tell unless we know what triggers it. Sounds like a bug tho if the people are right when they claim nothing is nearby. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

I sat in a safespot yesterday for about an hour, cloaked, afk, watching TV. Came back to PC and was still cloaked.

This bug has been present for several patches, but has gotten worse in the last patch.
Interestingly enough , I've actually experienced one occasion where my cloak randomly turned ON after the last patch as well.
I'm very glad that other people are beginning to report this now, because I was getting very tired of being mocked and told that my overview must just not be set up right and I flew to close to something ><
I've had to petition losses in the past because of the cloak off bug, but you know the usual standard answer ... logs...
edit: Of note, I don't know what causes this, but it's quite rare. Happened less than 10 times to me in the last 6 months. Cloaking for an hour wouldn't really be much of a test.
