Devilish Ledoux Caldari Stimulus Rote Kapelle	Posted - 2009.05.23 05:20:00 - [1] I was moving some ships around when someone in Akora asked if there were any carrier pilots in system. Thinking that they were trying to find someone to cyno some ships around (and that I could steal those ships), I opened a convo. At first, they said that they didn't want to deal with a pirate. I explained that I was actually an ex-pirate (which is technically true, as I no longer ransom). I also explained that pirates are often more likely to be honest, since their income depends on honoring ransoms and generally doing what they say they will do in combat. I also let them know that "this is my main. I like my reputation." (This is also true. However, my reputation is that I'm a bastard.) After a bit of what I like to call finesse and what other people call bald-face lying, I managed to find out what they wanted. They wanted to buy 49 Firbolgs, and they wanted them to be abandoned in a safe spot in Akora. At this point, it did not take a genius to figure out three things: 1) There's only one ship in Eve that can carry that many fighters. That ship is a Nyx mothership. 2) That's all the fighters it can carry, if it has any other drones at all. 3) If they had any friends nearby, they wouldn't be begging for help in local. Of course, it was also quite possible that this was a trap for an unsuspecting carrier pilot. However, between the decent alliance fleet we put together while I was running my con and the fact that I could replace my carrier several times, we decided that it was worth the risk. Oh, did I mention that my alliance fleet was only 2 jumps away? Their idea worked like this: I would warp to a safespot, deploy and then abandon my fighters. Then, they would drop cloak and warp to me, while I warped off to the station with the rest of the fighters. They'd scoop the fighters, warp off and cloak. We'd repeat this until we were done. I know, it's a dumbass plan, but it wasn't MY dumbass plan, so shut up. Anyway, I wasted some time "taking the time to buy the fighters and move them to a station in Akora" (actually not doing anything except giving the fleet time to make a plan of attack). Meanwhile, I created a decent safespot (out of scan range of all stations and all but one gate). Then I handed that bookmark off to an allied (but non-alliance) covops pilot. This covops pilot then hung out near the place I was supposed to drop the fighters. Meanwhile, the rest of the fleet rubbed its hands and cackled (and so did I, really.) Meanwhile, I formed a fleet with me, the mark and my cyno alt. That's it. They didn't even ask me to invite another character to be an emergency cyno alt! Finally, it was time. I jumped into system, docked (if it was a trap, I wanted my capacitor to be full), and then warped to the safespot. I made a token attempt to get them to just warp to me directly instead of having me warp off ("if we get jumped, I can remote rep you"), but they were having none of it. I agreed to follow their plan, deploying and abandoning my fighters. Then I aligned to the station, waited until I was far enough from the fighters that the Nyx would be unable to scoop and deploy any before it was too late. Then I said "warp to me" and when they initiated warp, I went back to station. The moment I landed on station, the mark called for help in fleet chat. This was because the first HIC had arrived and slapped an infinite point on the Nyx. "I'm on my way. How many are there?" I said. I was on my way back, but I already knew the answer to my question. The mark frantically replied, "a lot help now". By the time I got back on grid, the Nyx was already deep into armor. Everyone ceased fire to see if we could scam a ransom from the pilot, but they logged before we could do so. Unfortunately, it didn't save the Nyx, or the pod, which was promptly scanned down and hammered. I will cherish their corpse always. _
