Ok so ive built a geddon that scans for wormholes, can mine them and tank the rats and uses drones to kill em... Question is...do i need this or once i go in and kill the belt rats...do they come back? Ive seen so many theories on other forums so now...i come here.

If you can tank the Sleepers you'll be fine, there's only the one spawn AFAIK. Although, since there's only one spawn, you could come in your combat ship (don't forget to give a Probe Launcher), kill the rats and then come in your mining boat.
Also heard Tracking Disrupting the Sleeper you're attacking might save drones as only that one will go for the drones, not sure though. ------------------------ Low-sec is like sailing along the coast of Somalia...

I've been living in a wormhole system (class 3) for 6 weeks. I've found that if you use EWAR to raise your threat level or just let the sleepers shoot you for a little while before launching your drones they don't get shot at.
I can also confirm that you only get a single spawn of sleepers in the gravimetric sites, although they're not always there when you arrive and you sometimes have to hang about for them to spawn.

Edited by: Ancallan on 23/05/2009 13:41:27 If you're going in with a Battleship, be sure to watch your Wormhole's mass restrictions (See the Wormhole Thingie application).
Also, I find that the Rat Spawns are usually between 5 and 10 minutes. Only one wave per belt. Downtime has no effect on respawning the wave.

How can you tell wormhole class/early warnings of collapse?

So let me get this strait. Once you scan down a wormhole and enter... you can scan down what would be a grav site I suppose... warp in, kill the rat/rats and you are free to mine and haul it out? Seems like a pretty good deal. Something I need to get into.

Be wary of other players though. If someone scans down the wormhole and notices a Hulk in 0.0, they've got a target. Never leave your directional scanner alone while in W-Space. (or anywhere but high-sec for that matter) ------------------------ Low-sec is like sailing along the coast of Somalia...

Basically same rules in WH space as applicable in regular 0.0, with the modification being that your directional scanner essentially replaces local as your "intel." I do a scan each time I go to transfer ore to my jetcan, i.e. every 4-5 minutes. Even a dedicated probe ship will take long enough such that in between your scans, you shouldn't get caught with your pants down. Basically, have safespots/exit ready to warp to (passive align) and always be wary. Never drop your guard and mining in WH space can be very profitable.

I would probably move that time up to about once a minute, maybe every 30 sec. A good combat scanner can be on you in that 4-5 minutes, and then you're out a hulk (or whatever you're flying) and possibly a pod.

Guys, a good prober won't be on you in 4 minutes.
A good prober will be in a covert ops, he'll get you on directional scan first, warp off out of directional scanner range, drop probes, pre-position them, move them to the planet where you are, and 45 seconds later he'll be book marking, and recalling the probes.
*If* you see the probes at all and you're in a hulk it's already too late.
Eve is not a solo game, suggest you learn that and learn it fast. Mine with support.

Edited by: Siu Supjee on 27/05/2009 18:26:08 Edited by: Siu Supjee on 27/05/2009 18:25:52 ^^ That approach would work fantastically if all belts were around planets like they are in k-space. Far as I can tell, w-space signatures don't even obey the "always 4AU from a planet" rule. I am not sure I'd take a Hulk solo into a wormhole myself, but I don't think it's as bad as all that particularly if you prefer grav sites that are far from planets or other celestial bodies, and stay aligned to your exit wormhole.
Edit: And here is a nice thread that talks about wormhole mass allowances based on the little alphanumerical designation you get (like "U342") when you Show Info on a wormhole: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1027376
