currently got 2 large Nosferatu's + 6 cruise launchers - HI XL sheild Booster, MWD, emp & invun tactical sheilds 2x cap rechargers - Med warp core stabiliser, ballistic control, signal Amp, med armor repairer and a photonic cpu - Low
I know this setup sux can someone suggest how to fit it up for PvP / 0.0 mining defence - I dont mine - just sit and protect the miners

dont need the nos, they are powergrid hogs and dont do much vs npc.
on my npc hunting, miner gaurding raven i run, high-6 siege launchers, 2 heavy neutrons. med-mwd,2 cap chargers, two wards (not invulnerability field, they suck cap worse than 3 tachyons) and a large t2 shield booster. lows i run 3-4 powerdiags and 1-2 ballistic controls.
but i think the nosferatus are whats limiting the rest of your systems. by eliminating them and using 2 med guns in their place, your free up alot of cpu and grid (which youll need to fit 6 siege)
ive never mounted cruise launchers because of their week long rof.

I've played around with my Raven for NPC hunting and I've come to the conclusion that no matter what you do, in the end it will be a LOT easier and more profitable for you to train up either Gallente or Amarr and hunt with those ships. MUCH better in every category other than you don't get to see the pretty fireworks.

but i like the pretty fireworks besides i make my missiles from refined loot so it works out cost effective enough.

i dont know if u mean mining defence against npcs or players.. but heres my npc set up.
high: 6 x siege launchers (unnamed) 2 x dual 150mm's (kinda useless but meh.. cant do muhc else on there. cloak maybe? small sb's?
medium: 1 x Xl shield booster 2 x shield hardeners 1 x shield boost amp 2 x tech 2 cap rechargers
low: 1 small armor repair (dont like going back and forth to repair armor if i get that low..) 1 x ballistic mod 1 x cap power relay 1 x named cpu (waiting to get rid of that) 1 x tech 2 power diag
wana stick another teh 2 power diag on and another cap relay.. will have to choose between on or the other though. keeps my cap recharge time aroudn 380 seconds so i can run my booster longer
(mayh not be best against 3 x bs blood raider spawns, but can handle gurista ones) -------------------------------------------- I've had the same Gurista Imputor on my tail for the past 16 systems..

try to fit 2 heavy nosf instead of 150mm...and no frig will be a problme....and enemys wont be able to tank 4ever

I have recently been trying the following (while waiting for armar bs to train cause there really is no other option for npc atm)
6 seige 1 nos 3 hardners(named, 2 em and 1 thermal) <<< change depending on rats xl, amp , Heavy tapered cap (you will need it if you take too long) rcu,power diags, BCU (whatever you need maybe a cpu or power diag)
of course if you have tech 2 or named fit them! but if you can afford those you can prob strech to a Geddon 
this setup will aniliate upto a dual 1 million bs spawn of course it cost about 600 cm's to do that 
 Meow! |

So the impression I am getting is to sheild tank it and get my cap recharging as fast as possable, - should i bother trying to armour tank or is sheild tanking the way to go?

I personally armor tank while npcing HI 6 siege 2 med beams
MID 6 cap rechargers
Low 3 med tech2 repairers 1-2 hardeners 0-1 ballistic controls
NPC dont stand a chance against me, You do need decent skills to use this and u might have to buy some named cap rechargers to keep repairers and beams on indefinitely. Also cant forget using 6 heavies drones :-) One of my regular shippers was killed yesterday. I need u to fill in for him until he's feeling better. :) |

for pvp i use
6 x malkuth sieges 2 x heavy nos
1 x xl c5l booster 1 x thermal hardener 1 x em hardener 1 x shield amp 2 x cap recharger 2's
1 x balistic 3 x power diag 2's 1 x flux coil
all fits nicely :) get no cap problems too and dmg output is pretty good. Usually have someone in a frig to tackle. The 3 PDU 2's cancel out the cap nerf of the flux coil ... all cap skills and missle skills to lvl 5, cpu 5 too. Hell ive got like 70 cpu free and like 500 grid left
