Hello everyone! Ever since the Apocrypha expansion the small buttons on the overview to zoom and zoom out have been removed. Well this is not a big deal for us players who have full use of our mouse. However one of my pilots is a quadriplegic who plays the game using a sip and puff mouse with head tracking camera. He has two primary functions, left and right click. No wheel mouse support and he cannot hold the buttons down. When he had the zoom buttons on the overview he simply clicked them. This a big problem for him now as the camera position resets on him when going through gates. He has to call someone to fix it every time. Would someone be so kind as to possible offer some solutions for this?
I appreciate your time and efforts and my pilot does too!

I have no solution to offer. Bu CCP can.
I'll consider this as an open letter to CCP and I'm going to proactively look for more people to support this explicit request: CCP shall give absolute priority to this problem and shall be more careful in future decisions regarding the UI

We are very thankful for your support. EVE is one of the few games he is able to play comfortably and with ease and the lack of the zoom feature has caused him some stress.

If I remember correctly, those zoom buttons toggled the system and star maps. They have never zoomed the camera view in-space for as long as I have been playing.

Pressing them used to zoom in and out in small steps (was changed a while ago now)
To the OP: Can your mate find some way of using the crtl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z Hotkeys for Zoom? or remap the hotkeys to soemthing his interface can activate?

He has extreme difficulty with keyboard use. He currently uses the on screen keyboard but we all use vent as it's very hard for him to type to us.

It seems so simple when you're 'able-bodied'....
Please fix this CCP and maybe setup a consultation group for Accessibility (which up to now has obviously been quite decent).

simplest solution, settings toggle: don't reset camera after session change.
note: erm, that would be suggestion for devs to implement

You can zoom in/out by holding both left & right mouse button simultaneously and then moving the mouse.

True, but probably not that helpful.
The buttons returning, and stopping the zoom reseting after a sesion change would be nice.

Isn't there a way to map say "scroll 5 up" to a button like F11 on the keyboard?
That way he could use 2 buttons on the keyboard to zoom, since the shortcuts on the Esc menu don't work anymore either.

But people just replied with all the stupid stuff they learned on this forum (adapt or die, cry more, sweet tears, you are making it wrong, yeah yeah ccp will fix it just for you and so on).

I shall sign this and add my name, i'm not someone with difficulties playing EVE but i can understand his problem, there was a similar issue when they added the blink colour for the active moduls, some people couldn't see it so they changed it, i see no reason why the same can't be done here, hell even just adding a toggle to remove said buttons would work fine so those that don't need it can remove it and people who like them and need them can have them back :)
