Edited by: Denzien Omega on 24/05/2009 17:49:52 I dont know everyones view on this but it ****ed me off so I going to give a piece of my mind. Salvaging other peoples wrecks should be a punishable offense. GM Zerat fed me some BS that concord is happy to take out the garbage, you know what? It's stealing. The wreck has my name on it its mine whether I choose to clean it up or not. Especially when it comes to pirates invading lvl 4 missions because they have nothing better to do than steal valuable salvage materials. I should get the kill rights on anyone who feels its necessary to salvage my wrecks and aggravate my gameplay.

Troll or not, I got a laugh IRL from this. "I'm going to give you a piece of my mind!" I got a mental image of a very upset, very petulant child building themself up into a tantrum. _____________________________________________

Exactly. On another note, I do believe it is necessary to fix the lack of whitespace between signature and post.

Yes it is stealing, even if CCP says it's not. That is why we do it. We can steal all we want and there is nothing you can do about it.

Salvaging isn't stealing. The devs based it off actual nautical law or somesuch thing, basically the wreck belongs to no one except the person who gets to it first.
Technically speaking, the stuff in the wreck shouldn't flag them for combat either if we're going by the salvage rules, but as it's a can and can mechanics got changed to please miners so they could shoot ore thieves, people keep posting that salvaging is theft because taking from the can is a "criminal act".
Do you know what would happen if salvage mechanics got changed to flag people for combat? Exactly what happened with the cans. People will salvage just so they they DO flag themselves for you, and as soon as you open fire they warp off and come back and relieve you of your pve fitted ship with their pvp fitted ship.
Salvaging isn't stealing. If it bothers you that much, bring a buddy along to salvage for you, or stick a tractor and salvager in your highs. Or even move to a different system.
I can understand your frustration, but you are assuming ownership of something that isn't actually yours. Venting on the forums just feeds those who do it for kicks just to annoy people. -------------------------------------------------

Last I checked, there was nothing wrong woth griefing. Can't handle it? Go back to a childrens game, like WoW, where you can get banned for farting in front of the wrong person.
So what if it has your name on it? It's called game mechanics. You leave something out in the open, someone will probably steal it, just like IRL.
That you petitioned a GM over this represents gross stupidity, isn't there something about this on the main site?
So, pirates invade level 4 mission because they have nothing else better to do? Hmm... aren't they pirating when they do that? Pirating. PIRATING. They have as much right to pirate as you do to run that mission.
So suck it up & take it like a man (not an english man like you have so far), it's part of the game & if I know it agitates you (which it most obviously does) i'll do it even more.

Who knows? Maybe it was not even intended that stuff in wrecks is treated like stuff in cans? But wrecks partly reuse the can mechanics, which were already there when wrecks were implemented...
Did anyone ever try to report this as a bug since Revelations came out?

bingo. carebear whines introduced can flagging, which created an entire profession of can flippers hoping to get shot at.
what do you think is going to happen if you start shooting at people taking wrecks? they'll stop taking wrecks?

I think that evertime a MR salvages a NPC wrekc they should be spammed from EVE mails from NPC's calling them a cowardly griefer noob scumsucker and threatening to get their 0.0 friends to kill you.
The NPC should then proceed to smacktalk in local and hide in station.

Edited by: Zoe Lind on 24/05/2009 21:22:10 Ha! Your petulant tears are the main reason it's so fun. In fact the only thing more rewarding than the impotent rage of a mission runner in local is seeing them shoot their own wrecks out of blind frustration.
Wait no...there is one thing more rewarding: Watching the explosion of a concorded mission runner BS.

I made the suggestion in the 'game ideas' forum to a post similar to this - I will re-iterate here for the pleasure of the OP.
I do agree that stealing salvage should be a flagable offense.
Though, I think that the person taking the salvage should get kill rights on the owner. Its only fair.

Fine, make salvaging give you aggro. Within two weeks all the carebears will be whining about how unfair this is. We've seen it already with can flipping, what makes you think salvage theft will be any different? -----------
