I need help with m character, I do not want to be one of those people with 30 million skill points and no focus, just a random shotgun approach.
Here is my character currently:
http://eve-sheet.com/skills/Roux_Michon
I am trying to do a CovertOps/StealthBomber/Scanner/Archaeology type focus... with a bit of mining thrown in as well... I just got myself into a Hulk, now Im working on getting into an Orca but it is simply because I do not know where to even start with the StealthBomber/Scanner/Archaeology type stuff.
I don't really have any grand thoughts on a battleship or anything YET, once my current focus is pretty solid I can branch into those areas. Please help me with a skill map or something, I am totally lost.

Edited by: Savasta on 25/05/2009 07:13:59 Edited by: Savasta on 25/05/2009 07:10:43 Download EVEmon. It's a great app that you can plug skills into to create plans. It should help a lot. You can search ships and modules to find the skills you need, and then input them directly into a plan.
Stealth Bombers need all missile support skills plus torpedo specialization. They also need covert ops cloaks, which involve the electronics skill tree.
Scanning frigates are in the same class as stealth bombers: covert ops. They need most of the same skills minus missile skills and plus scanning skills. Scanning skills are found under the Science skill tree I believe. All of the scanning skills have the word Astrometrics in their name.

Except for Guided Missile Precision which doesn't work with torpedoes.
To the OP: Training up for some ewar like remote sensor dampers and target painters/stasis webbifiers wouldn't go amiss either if you're planning to use stealth bombers.

A good start is to find some ship fits you like, then work out what skills you will need to use that fit.
As said above, EvEMON is the business for this.

"A bit of mining" is one of those things that will make you unfocused. You'd be better off just picking up salvaging.

If you plan on focusing on scanning skills, getting hacking can be well worth it, especially since you already trained electronic upgrades 5, which is the hard part.
Hacking will allow you to exploit the Radar sites that you will stumble upon when scanning, and can give you a quick cash injection.
Hacking also opens up the whole invention part, which can be profitable if you like to put some attention to that.
For dabbling a bit in mining, a Hulk should be quite sufficent I'd say.

Says it will take 50 days off my total training time.

Imo, you shouldn't remap your charater stats without a year-long-plan.

Unless I missed it, you'll want salvaging in there for some of the exploration sites, as some have cans that can only be opened by using salvaging. |

Black Ops: Note: can fit covert cynosural field generators and covert jump portal generators. No targeting delay after decloaking
Stealthbombers: Role Bonus: -99.65% reduction in Siege Missile Launcher powergrid needs -99.5% reduction in Cloak CPU Use -100% targeting delay after decloaking
The only ships that really benefit from Cloaking V is Recon ships. You could argue that non-stealth based ships that fit a cloaking device benefit from it as well, but that's very limited and situational at best. However, a recon specialist will want Cloaking V. I got that for one of my alts. He got three out of four racial cruiser V's atm (and plan to get the last), and don't fly bigger ships than Command Ships, so in light of that it makes perfect sense.
Eh, back on track - I'd recommend OP to drop Cloaking V from the list anyway, unless you are seriously into getting Recon and go with that as your primary role.
Basic skills that is beneficial for all shiptypes, even in PvE, is a good thing to train. A couple of lv5's that "should be" on "all" (combat PvP/PvE, ignoring industrialists) characters imho; Electronics, Energy Management, Energy Systems Operation, Engineering, (Shield Management IV), Shield Operation, Weapon Upgrades (and Advanced Weapon Upgrades IV), Mechanic, Navigation, Spaceship Command. Armor tankers take Hull Upgrades V as well.
Personally I want all my chars to have Drones + Scout Drone Operation V asap too for t2 drones. It's fast to train and great scrambling frigate defence, both PvP and PvE.
The compensation skills for shield/armor is neat to have at lv4, and finally navigation/ship and weapon support (missile, or gunnery 4, plus drone support) is another thing to add. Obviously you need to look at your ships fittings and see what skills you need to put them to use too.
That should keep you going for a while. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |
