i was in lowsec for a bit and i saw a carrier jump into a system and kill a whole gang and i asked one of the guys in that gang why they didnt call in a carrier of there own and he told me they didnt have one it was to much money and i thought why not make a carrier thats smaller just make it with the jump drive of a black ops bs and only make it use 5-8 drones with the capability to use fighters. the closest thing to a carrier is the domi and thats not all that effective in any gang |

Another escort carrier thread? Please review discussions on previous threads. Old idea, and a great one IMO, but you'd be better off posting to one of the previous discussions than trying to make your own.

People under-estimate a properly fitted and flow carrier.
My old carrier alt flew a chimera that could perma tank 6k omni dps with no overheat (and 20-30 in triage) and deal out over 1k DPS. I once landed on a gate against a 20 man nano gang and rep'd up a friendly BS. Anything that got close was being forced off within seconds due to good drone management and a strong skill point pool.
A carrier costs the same as a faction BS these days and is fully insurable. i don't see why people don't fly them more often. People have seen too many videos of triage carriers remote reaping stuff... they seem to have forgotten that even with t2 mods they can WRECK tackled targets and provide an amazing distraction. |

There is no point in having an escort carrier that is just a cheaper version of a regular carrier. If it is cheaper, but can use fighters, then why would I ever use a regular carrier in combat? If it is actually a good combat ship, why wouldn't I use it instead of a BS?
In short, you are suggesting a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
For PvP, there is no gap for this ship to fill in the progression from Battleships -> Navy Faction BS -> Pirate Faction BS -> Carrier -> Super Carrier |

Perhaps they should allow drones and fighters to be used to triage mode. I never really bother to put fighter in my carrier since the main job of the carrier is logistics. In triage mode you can't use those fighters and when you get popped you just waste more isk, 15-20 million for a fighter really adds up. I never buy fighters, I just loot them from carriers that get destroyed and then put them in my carrier. |
