I am looking at sentry drone skills and I understand them to be simply additional turrets (so to speak)and they don't fly out to targets like the other combat drones. So my question...what skills would increase their shooting range? Drone skills, gunnery, both?
Thanks in advance

Drone Sharpshooting to be more precise, not the Sharpshooter in gunnery.

Edited by: Roland Five on 01/06/2009 03:31:01 I would also add that with the longer range sentry drones it matters how far out you can assign them to targets so training the ECM drone skill is useful.

Drone sharpshooting for better optimal range. Omnidirectional tracking link I modules (midslot, stacking-nerfed) for even more optimal range (and tracking). Scout drone operation (5km/level), Electronic Warfare Drone Interfacing (3km/level) and Drone Link Augumentor I (20km/module) for range from your ship to a target you can issue a drone firing order (distance from drone to target is irrelevant).

I am going to train for Sentries once I'm done with Mining Barge V (14 days left = ouch), so I'd like to ask a related question.
What's the usual tactics when using Sentries? Stay next to them so that you can scoop them immediately when they get shot? Deploying them and moving away?
Any tips welcome. http://www.geocities.com/vagrantweapons/db.jpg |

Yes, people sit right on their sentries - otherwise you'd just have to fly back to them when you wanted to scoop them. ----------------

Deploy, bookmark, move away and then warp to your bookmark? |

if speed is part of your tank, deploy, orbit at 2.5km. á á

This is rather a moot point considering Drone Sharpshooting to IV is a pre-req for Sentries anyway...although yes, train this to V, along with Drone interfacing, and Sentry Drone interfacing itself - T2 ftw...
