The 'planned' release is 3 Nov. Now in reality when will this newly released content actually become available to the mere mortals of the Eve community (also known as the majority). Is it going to be similar to all the previous and recent new content realeases in that some mega-corp, or lucky agent runner monopolises the situation, making shed loads of ISK for 6-8 months? Because if this is so I'm not entirely sure I can bothered waiting this long.
What do you think, so far CCP have not really discussed distribution (AFAIK) - when do you think this content will be truley available?

I can wait. If the majority get the stuff on day1 by day3 we will all be asking for the next development cycle.
Now that really would be tedious.

The basic player owned structures will be sold on the market, as in available to anyone with the money. The more advanced ones will be sold by bpos/agents and such.

Shiva will be patched to the entire player base at the same time. It will not be patched to mega-corps, then to smaller corps, then freelancers, etc. It's just not possible to stage the patch and publish in that fashion.
03 November is the date that everyone has access to Shiva on Tranquility. However, it will be available to people wishing to stress and beta test in the public test starting about 5 October. You can find more Shiva information in Oveur's Dev Blog.

Edited by: Kel Shek on 13/09/2004 05:22:29 I think what he means is that he expects things like those nifty modulation miner 2's or whatever, and mining barges, and all that fun stuff, to be released through R&D agents, or special small events, or those sorts of things, thus being only PRACTICALLY avaliable to "megacorps" who have essentially unlimited funds to pour into aquiring such BP's and accessories, also happening to have a monopoly on them at the same time.
if a bone could be thrown, so to speak, as to the means of distributing these things, I would imagine it might calm some minds as to the potential problem in question.
my thought on it, is having the fancy pantsy mining lasers be like... "tech 2.5" where you do not need R&D skills, but you need some higher "regular" skills, and such to build, and have a regular miner 1 and some tech 2 parts in addition to the minerals, to build it. and the BC's, Destroyers, and Mining barges be "tech 1.5" where they again, don't need R&D skills like tech 2, but need SOME special skills, but not as many, and use some(lesser amount) of tech 2 parts. and on both cases, the BP's avaliable from NPC's on the market, though not neccesarily in hugely abundant quantitys.
but obtainable.
edit: I thought I remembered reading that they DID say that BC and Destroyer BP's would be from the market... but theres been no word officially about the new mining equipment... has there?

well as usual the majority of the new stuff will come out with this stupid research agent idea..which means we wont see any new ships or other such goodies for months..then when they are released..like the battle crusier...they will cost some ungodly price..probably 200 mill for a battlecrusier if not more at first...this system has to be changed allowing more bp0's to be released so the stuff can get into the game in a timely manner and not 4 months down the road...shiva and stuff in it are already gonna be 6 months behind scheduled release as it is ... dont make us wait 6 months more to get the goodies.
..and im still betting it wont be out till after december

Case in Point
Logistic support crusier being sold for 100mil
A simple crusier with no guns and a few specific bonuses costs more than a tier 1 battleship.

From what I've heard, the component/mineral requirements of the support cruiser are at least 35-40mil. Given early distribution/limited production rates, well.. these -are- elite ships, and the profit margin actually isn't all that horrible. Consider, for instance, the profit margin on a pair of Nikes?

I have also heard that mineral + compoent cost are 35-40mil but this is due to tech 2 compoents being in short supply (whole other debate).
Can anyone honestly say that the even if u could buy at base price that a logistics crusiers are a good buy at 35-40mil ?
imho these ships are worth 10mil tops (as far as usefulness goes) simply becuase they are support and are not main line ships, sure the bonus is nice but not when u can barely mount 1 lrg armour/shield tranfer mod and sustain it, without sacrificing most of your med an lo slots, making u a sitting duck in a fight.

Nice assumption. Got any evidence?
Apparently you failed to read the part about BCs being Tech 1 and available on market like any other Tech 1 BPO. So while a few nuckleheads will charge 100mil for the first one, and some rich idiots will doubtlessly buy some at that price, they will quickly come down in price as the BPs quickly go into circulation. We will probably have to wait a month or two for the BPs to be researched before they become standard fare at reasonable prices, but the first cruisers routinely sold for 10-20 mil when they came out, and now they go for 8 mil max so it's not really a big deal. If you have a little patience you can get it for a sensible price. Only those who absolutely have the be the FIRST to own it will pay through the nose.
Since Barges are new ships, and not tech II improvements over existing ones, just like the BC and destroyer, they will hopefully be released on the market too, just with some tough skill requirements, like Mining V to use them.
As to tech II miners, I assume they'll only drop from NPCs as their Tech I counterparts and all other named loot do.
