Does anyone know what the drop will be when you destroy a POS?
Will it follow similar rules to ships?
Will station modules be droppable?
What about ships that are docked there?
Blueprints?
Anything?

you cant destory them once built, you can take it over from the other owner hopefully the defenses wont be as weak as the current NPC stations or having a POS will be a waste of time ------------------------------------------------ Do not let the world change you. Change the world

If you take over the structure then do you get what's in it?
Your quote doesn't say anything about what drops when its destroyed, just that a POS can be destroyed.

You CAN detroy them according to shiva pages.
Makes no sense if you cant, they wouldnt be an isk sinkt hen would they ?
Anwway, my guess is the drops will consist of consumables minerals and fitted modules. Not the bp's since that would just be asking us to gank every pos out there. _______________________________________________

Wow, they really should check this for spelling errors. "An siege"? "an financial"? "Deliever an financial loss OF the owner?" hmm...

Sure it will, but dropping us a few bpo's everytime we do it would just be too much. I say the owner gets a residual sec can at the anchor spot with any bpo's in it, otherwise you might as well have no research going on in 0.0 since noone will be taking the risk.
unless of course ccp thinks up something better. _______________________________________________

tbh CCP should really make POS an infinite money sink and let ppl pour more and more into defense of the structure by adding more turrents more power sources blah blah and just make the costs of deploying and maintaining keep getting exponentially higher as you add to it. In short I see no reason in the world that it wouldnt be the best isk sink in the game. Who cares if Corp or Alliance X can make it. The key will be keeping it supplied so the defenses RUN.
Might even promote siege warfare in this game with groups trying to "camp" the holy grail of all stations hoping that when the reactors run dry they can rush in and claim it
Maybe even create a new job or career in eve -- Installation Administrator who can lower or raise the defensive levels of the installation if there online and docked at it to conserve resource usage. After all if the threat level isnt there no reason to have all the turrents running etc.
Have it be a trainable skill and based on level if the admin is online and docked certain services at the installation are cheaper or actually work better. like better refining cheaper repairing faster research or cheaper building blah blah..
Heck why not go all out and add a AGENT Module and let the owner have an agent they actually employ :) might be a good roleplaying aid and let the owners script the content of the NPC offered missions to a degree (at least the surrounding story).

Oveur> yes
Oveur> ship hangar with ships in it = you have ships

Does anyone know if the existing conquerable stations will remain as they are now after all this is implemented?
Computer games don't affect children. If PacMan had affected us as kids then we'd all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music. |

Well, based on that blog, if tech 3 is only researchable in POS you may as well not even bother unless you are in a mega corp. They are the only people who will have a chance to defend these. Unless of course there are sentry guns that can be installed, but I haven't heard anything that indicates they will be.
I really hope that CCP thinks this through some because mega corps already have a huge advantage as it is. Giving them something else this huge would not be good for the game imo. As it is now, everyone can train skills, and hope to one day do the missions or buy a particular BPO, even tech 2. If POS are the research havens for tech 3, and you can only research or make tech three in them it's pointless to even bother if you are a small corp.
Since the latest tech is where the money is at, you just made the super rich unbeliveably rich, and everyone else who wants/needs that tech poorer, because who in their right mind would risk a low sec station they can't defend when all someone has to do to own everything they have is just blow it up?

Silly little Smashertron, the solution is simple!
Never not be playing EVE

Okay, this is getting silly. May I suggest that before you panic about your POS being "taken while you are sleeping" that you actually read the appropriate section in the Shiva information. Once you understand how this cannot happen, and once you understand how incredibly difficult it will be to actually attempt to take or destroy a POS station, then come on back and we can talk about everything else.

Ive read them, and believe me, The minute you start saying how something cant be done due to difficulty the playerbase begins to devise a way to prove just how wrong you are. If the game mechanics allow for something to be conquered or destroyed then the players will not only come up with a way to do it but constantly improve the method to reduce the number of ppl it takes to accomplish it. <THE.MM Forums> |

I wasn't refering to you Tal, obviously you understand how POS will work. And I agree, this community excel's at making things happen that aren't meant to happen. I was primarily directing my comment to people worried that POS structure would be "taken while they were sleeping", who didn't realize that no matter what they would at least have some time to prepare themselves for a possible loss of their station. I'm not really sure why someone would want to destroy a POS when they can take it for their own, unless you have to destroy the station to be able to claim any ships in it. After a few days of the station being in lockdown mode, I rather think the pickings would be a bit slim unless an effective 23/7 blockade were in effect during the entire time to keep people from transporting thier ships and equipment out of the endangered facility.

The point is that there WILL be 23/7 blockades, and stations WILL be destroyed. That means only the strongest of the strong will be able to defend their stations.
Allow me to use a well known game for example. Everquest. The designers never imagined that Nagafen and Vox would be killed as quickly/easily as they were.
The expansion came out and before they even had it finished FoH was knocking on the door of Veeshan's peak.
Enter SoV...you guesses it, issues with the elite players getting ahead of the designers and totally owning the content.
In fact, it happens every single expansion.
Don't tell me how difficult it will be to take stations because thats how difficult the designers are planning for it to be. No matter how good they are, they aren't 50,000 people, thinking about 50,000 different ways to wtfpwn this new content.
Based on human nature, I say stations will be destroyed 10 times faster than imagined, with less people than believed to be possible. This means that only the very strongest groups will be able to actually defend one once it's built.
This in an of itself isn't a problem, it is only a problem if tech 3 can only be researched/built at player built stations. If this is the case you effectively relegate financial control of the eve universe to the already overpowered mega corps.
If tech 3 is doable anywhere, even if slightly slower than in a player built station this would at least give smaller corps a chance.
As far as waking up and your ship has been shot out from under you. All I can say is thats a CS nightmare waiting to happen if the coding isn't done right. Ship gone, with logged player in it = player erased anyone? Don't laugh, I've seen stranger things happen in games where proper planning didn't happen.
All in all I guess it's really too soon to know whats going to be what since it isn't released yet. It's just human nature to speculate, and panic well in advance of any proposed changes.

My guess on the ship losses if the station is destroyed would be that any ships docked at a station that are not the last active ship of a player before logoff would jettison out. In a way that could be kinda funny if ppl loaded 100 preassembled shuttles in each of there hangers LOL. heh omg the lagggggggggggg
