Lots of people have been asking in local about this recently, I don't know if this is a known situation but I might as well post it anyway :)
If you look on the map, and set it to show number of ships destroyed in the last hour you will see the biggest red blob over Arnon.
There can be up to 600 ships destroyed per hour there and I've seen quite a few people asking in local 'Wherez Teh Warz Happeningz!?!?'
There is no war, there isn't even any pvp involved at all. The ships are all shiny freshly fitted frigates and destroyers and the odd cruiser beloning to the hundreds of new players on their epic arc quest.
There is no band of pirates or epic war, just 1 npc: Kritsan Parthus, the anti-newb.
Hundreds of new players lose their prized ships every hour to this fiend, and local is packed with people begging for help and mercy, you can almost taste their tears.
So I would like to congratulate the pilot of that pesky battlecruiser on his accomplishments, and his unyielding effort to rid Eve of the 'newb'.
