The fact people treat mission running as an in-game occupation is great, but fraught with problems (can't protect salvage, too much reward vs risk etc).
That people simply run missions to pay for time, to run missions to pay for time etc is exactly why agents should only be available to players engaged in faction warfare.

Well, honestly think getting a job and pay for the game is better. I only make $38 an hour but still think it is better than grinding missions for 40 hours. In fact, I can only play twice a week and 2-4 hours per day at most. Use ISK to pay for the game is not an option for me. I used to buy 90 day GTC with ISK though. However, I don't have the time to build stuff/run missions anymore. It is still not that bad, 1 hour of work is more than enough to pay for 2 months of game already. Play Eve for free is nice but grinding missions, mining, and pos/t2 mod building can be boring though. Besides, the current GTC cost too much isk anyway. Not worth the time and effort.

It makes more sense to pay with rl money because the amount of time it takes you to make 600-700mill isk in game (especially for newer players) is a lot more time that it would take you to make 30 bucks in rl. Of course that's only if your looking to save time =), a lot of people pay with isk to avoid the hassle of dealing with the monthly credit card bill

I think it has more to do with a previous increase in windows targeted spam with certain e x e 's ****) you rather not want to have on your HD.

haven't paid for EVE for two years now - if i had to pay with rl money instead of ISK i'd keep just one account and that would significantly cut my interest in the game

I remember from another thread that "full stop + E X E" is censored and the full stop can be any letter, so you end up with the 'l' censored.
Edit: On topic. I paid a few months with ISK but then I realized how much ISK I waste and the prices went up, so I bought a GTC from retail. It's not that much RL money anyway for one account. Might buy a PLEX or two when I'm feeling particularly rich again.

Passive income due to datacore alts and voila, only time I use is the afk flying of the alt to pick up cores per month while playing on main on other acount and visa versa

well...if you do $30/hour...it`s a no-brainer, but hey if you happen to live on the wrong side of the world and the good (student , not much xp) paycheck I get as an accountant/economist ammounts to $300/month...well...
at that point you start to realize 400m = 5 hours of grinding or so...again no brainer
