Ok, before i waste my money, could somebody give the ideal set-up for this ship, and poss best skills to train for one, although i got the basic ones to fly one, surely there has to be more to make it worth my while buying one? |

The main things to really focus on to make this ship work for you.
1.) Leadership skills. Mining Director, and Mining foreman in particular. This will give you 2 things. It will up your yield per mining laser, and also allow you to run the gang link mods which reduce the laser recycle time.
Win win.
2.) Skills to use the industrial core.
3.) the skills to use the cap tracter beams.
But first and foremost, I would concentrate on the gang skills first.

I'm assuming you have the skills to pilot it as in the relevant jump drive skills etc.
To use it effectively in its role you'll need a lot more.
Leadership 5. Mining foreman 5. Mining director 5. (These 3 for the mining gang links.) Warfare link specialist 4-5. (A lot of people forget about this giving the mining gang links more bonus.) Cybernetics 5. (For the mining foreman mind link.) All the ore refining skills to 4 that you intend to mine in your gangs so you can compress them in the rorquals factory slots. Industry 5. Mass production 5. Advanced mass production 5. Industrial reconfiguration 4-5. (For the Industrial core, so you can deploy the Rorqual to use its factory slots for Ore/Ice compression.) Capital shield skills if you want to tank it, personally I would just park it at a pos give out the gang bonus then deploy when you need to start compressing the ore. Cloning facility operation 1-5. (if you want your miners to keep clones in it for ops.)
As for setup..
Hi's Improved Cloaking Device II Industrial Core I Clone Vat Bay I Mining Foreman Link - Harvester Capacitor Efficiency Mining Foreman Link - Laser Optimization Mining Foreman Link - Mining Laser Field Enhancement You could swap out the field enhancement link for a Shield resist link, if you have the skills.
Mids Whatever you like depending on what your doing, tank while your moving etc.
Lows 3x expander II
Rigs 3x cargo rigs
I wouldn't even worry about tractor beams or scanners, you shouldn't be doing anything but moving it to its destination or running it in a gang from a POS, certainly not sitting in a belt unless you know you have good protection, but tbh good protection or not just sit at the POS and deploy inside the shield, then get compressing.
Probably missed something but theres a lot of skills to go into this ship to get the best out of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but why would you swap out the Field Enhancement link which increases range & leave the near-useless Cap Efficiency link in I definitly see the point in getting a shield resist link in there though
Most of what I have read leans towards the fact that the Cap Efficiency link is worthless. That kind of feedback along with common sense saying that the miner's should have a cap-stable fit on their mining ship(s) renders that link useless... |

I would not rig the Rorqual to cargo capacity but to agility and speed. Make that slug a bit more dexterous, it has enough cargo as it is.

Because you spend so much time aligning to gates, warping and jumping through them amirite? |

Thank you all for the very useful information, noted and few skills need to train still but thank you again :) |

I disagree persoanally.
In my situation, I have 2 hulks, and the rorq. I tank using a hulk. When its time to haul, I will warp the rorq to the belt at 100, pick up the ore, and then warp back to a POS. But there is certainly a good use for them.

Again, I disagree. this thing shouldnt be moving around much at ALL. It should be sitting at as POS handing out the bonus's. Nothing more, beyond the occasional warp to the belt to grab your jet cans.
And if you are warping this thing to a belt with hostiles in system, then even more agility likely isnt going to save you.

Wait... you can use rorquals for MINING?
I thought the rorqual's main use was to deploy POS's __________________________________________________

Fair comment, my setup is simply to keep the cap efficiency incase we dont have some cap stable setups amongst the miners, range is easily handled by moving a bit closer, but if the setups were cap stable it would go instead of the range link.

Fair comment as well in that situation, personally I was using it with a bigger gang that had haulers so I never saw the need. That bigger gang plus the amount of ore coming in meant i spent most of my time deployed and crushing ore at the pos.
