Range is an advange? Yea 33km compared to 36?
that sure makes up for the 150dps increase between 425 II's and tachyon II's lol
And since you don't think Tachyons and 425's should be compared i'll give you some other numbers.
Megathron (LVL V SKILLS)
425 II's (antimatter)
3x mfs II's
526 dps
36k optimal 30k falloff
Armegeddon (Lvl V skills)
megabeam II's (multi)
3x hs II's
651 dps
30k optimal 20k falloff
So again this is the tier III weapon from hybrid long range against the tier II weapon for long lazers.
U get over 100 dps advantage and we get what? 6km optimal and 10km falloff.
Sure you have a harder time fitting your guns but Id rather have the option of fitting these guns with rcu II's then just having to settle with this pitifully low dps output.

1. Have fun fitting 7 megabeams on a Geddon 2. The Geddon has a 33% dps bonus while the Mega only has a 25% bonus, the real dps for 7 megabeams with a 25% bonus would be 610. 3. 16km range difference ( 6 from optimal, 10 from falloff ) are an advantage, no matter if you value it or not.
-> ergo, Megabeams pay for their higher dps with a lower range, a higher capuse and much higher fitting requirements. Those fitting requirements are actualy important when you try to equip a battleship. |

Beam Lasors>Railguns>Artillery
^^ That by a large degree no questions asked.
I would care if I fired long range weaponry, but up close I'm pretty happy with autocannon, even though lasors are better overall and blasters do more dps. Ac preform decent damage up close, but with barrage loaded can stay out beyonds web/scram range. That versatility makes them alot easier to pilot than blasterboats. If Ammar ships shield tanked and were relatively agile I would fly them. As it is minmatar ships run circles around the slow armor plated monsters. And if I wanted to fly a Phantasm I would quickly remember that I could buy a sleipnir for 20-30mil isk less.

All this Artillery bashing. I guess you don't fly with disciplined corpmates.
Get 9 or 10 Hurricanes with T2 720mm's and Republic EMP, all fitted with three gyrostabs and another 6 to 8 mates in the gang in a smattering of Harbs, Brutix's and tackle. Just do that, and you'll see the rival FC panicing as his ships get primaried and popped faster than he can call PANCAKE!
Artillery sucks solo, but the volley is outstanding. Get enough of that single volley on one target and it works amazingly well.
RAILS, on the otherhand, have...erm....**** dps, middle-road volley, and decent range. Meh.

w0rd.
I think rail guns could use a slight boost, as well as arty. |
