Edited by: JamesS on 06/06/2009 06:02:03 I was wondering what is the proper way to employ a Manticore with a Bomb Launcher. I was thinking that by adding a Bomb Launcher along with the Siege Launchers it would give me both a Tactical as well as a Strategic way to fight. Also are there certain bombs that go better with certain torpedoes?

Hi,
I'm no expert on Stealth Bomber tactics, but I'd expect that a pretty solid choice of Bomb is the one your Bomber gets a damage bonus for - so for a Manticore that is the Concussion Bomb. Though this is only for dealing damage, as I've heard the Lock Breaker and Void Bombs are also quite useful to deploy in concert with the damage dealing bombs.

Edited by: King Rothgar on 06/06/2009 11:26:30 Bomb damage isn't nearly as dependent on the ship bonus as the missile damage is. So though you will want to lean towards your ship's favored bomb type, any will work. I haven't used the bomber much but I have found that the bombs are now effective, even cost effective in many cases. Just be careful with it, it doesn't care who is in the blast radius and it will kill your own torps. Only good news with the friendly fire aspect is that since bombs are sig and speed dependent on damage like missiles, your tackling frigates are basically immune to them. That cuts both ways though, a t1 frigate will **** a bomber as they have nothing to throw back at them. I use a purifier and hound btw. Both are very nice since they changed them although the epic frig ownage from pre-missile nerf days was also funny. |

Bombs are only dependant on sig, speed is irrelevant, which is why some fcs tell ppl to trun their mwds on and other don't. In reality most frigs can't adjust the course or pass 30km from 0 so you almost always get kills, if only because so many panic and mwd away.
Best tactic is to pick an object, get on the opposite side of your target, align, lunch your bomb directly at the gate then warp. Oh and ignoring a ships damage bonus is not smart considering the base damage of bombs. |
