Since we got an honourable mention by Captain Campion...
Ooooh, i so wanted to do this for a very long time. *DRUMROLLS* Scroll down for TL;DR.
1st Meltd0wn Official Press Release
On the accousations of being thieves and generally bad people, the corporation Meltd0wn [henceforth: the defendant] would like to express the following:
(a) Preamble We are germans. This essentially boils down, besides speaking a funny language, to us being bred, born and raised as meticulous, over-correct nitpickers and generally PITAs. We are also rumoured to have some talents in organizing logistics.
People that have flown with us over the years also know us as a group of pilots that don't do half-assed jobs. We fail or we succeed, but we do it hard and without breaks.
If our aim and intent would have been to rob IRON, there wouldn't be any statements about "some assets". There wouldn't have been a single scrap of tritanium left in any hangars. The end of your moon mining POS bookmarks would have looked different. Just so we're clear about that. We removed all our assets from Pure-Blind in basically two days. You wouldn't have known what hit you, only to wake up and ask "did someone get the plate?".
(b) Short Information Break 1 Things we were taught when we joined IRON: - IRON isn't a democracy - IRON is regularly ruled by an alliance leader, his word is final - Alliance Executors are extensions of the alliance's will, their words are final too
(c) Longer Information Break 1 Some time after we joined IRON, The Old Leadership (TOL) stepped down and The New Leadership (TNL), consisting of three Executors from three different corps, was appointed. This Triumvirate (sorry, I just had too) of Executors set sails to bring change to IRON, to trim some fat and abandon outdated policies in the environment that New Eden is today with the goal to consolidate IRON's pvp performance, make it more consistent across corps and timezones, and by using thusly created synergy effects, raise it overall.
This was done based on classified Document A, "IRON Corporation Performance Review". This document was ordered by TOL, created by a member of the defendant, and turned in to TOL prior to TOL stepping down. According to newest findings of the IRON forums, Document A wept with ill-will towards the alliance, personal agendas and general hygiene issues. It is probably for this, that the creating member was deemed fit as one of the three Executors in TNL.
Hitting some roadblocks on their way to reformation by means of democratic polls with regards to policy or attempts to puppet master TNL by TOL from behind the curtains, TNL decided that the overall situation was not providing a healthy and productive environment anymore. Some informal information exchanges later, TNL realized, that their stepping down and this becoming public knowledge within the alliance, would lead to a mass-exodus of corporations.
(d) The Final Days (pt1) In an attempt to get some pull on TOL's strings, TNL seized parts of the alliance assets in an overnight raid to prevent a leadership deadlock leading to impossible to execute retaliations to hostile incursions of IRON space. The assets were split three ways, with one executor safekeeping liquid ISK, one executor safekeeping control towers and defenses and one executor safekeeping the dreadnought siege fleet.

Edited by: Mioelnir on 07/06/2009 01:32:13 (d) The Final Days (pt2) TOL sat this one out. Coming to the conclusion that this would lead nowhere, and realizing how many of the active pvp force that defended Pure Blind day by day over the last weeks would leave as one, TNL made their final orders.
- all alliance members are to base out of a specified NPC station in Pure Blind rather than IRON Sisyphus P2T - since the corporations intending to stay in IRON showed a statistically significant overlap with the corporations that were asked to leave or merge just 2 weeks prior because of their bad defense fleet participation, it would not be fair to leave all the wealth Pure Blind generated for the alliance in their trusting, inactive hands. Each executive should therefor take his part of the seized assets with him, for them to be distributed between the leaving corps afterwards.
(e) The Aftermath
Members remaining in IRON, including The New Old Leadership (TNOL), which took over again, made a case that "this wasn't fair". This point was also, very strongly indeed, made by some people, I personally hadn't seen on the forums more than twice and ingame more than maybe once. In nearly 6 months of membership. Back to the issue of "being fair". To the few very active ones in the remaining corps, it probably wasn't. They may feel screwed, and perhaps rightly so. But leaving everything with this (literally) handfull of people would have screwed a lot more people. Based on that, TNL made that decision. TNOL may not like it as much as they want, if TNL would have folded like they did after TRI started engaging IRON's income, they would have gotten nil.
IRON was left with at least two full sets of dreadnought and capital component BPOs that were purchased from Pure Blind highmoon income, additionally a couple of billions in liquid ISK, enough minerals to build a mighty fourty-something dreadnought fleet, and the whole R64 mining infrastructure and silo contents (which, word has it, were subsequently really robbed by someone in a bright spark of galactic irony). This all, in our books, sums up to a very very solid base for restructuring and possibly even fraktons of ISK, depending on how well you fare defending Pure Blind. 4 billion ISK per day is nothing to sneeze at.
Eventually, the other two former Executors got cold feet. Ours didn't.
They gave away the assets that, by executive decree, were to be distributed. To IRON. We didn't.
We stand by our decision.

Remember that one time I wardecd your corp, ransomed your corp, didn't stop the war once ransom paid, made your corp disband, and then you created a corp specifically to "get" me called "PAYBACK CORP"?

blacklist them? for what, helping to speed up your demise? IRON's a joke, at least Hydra knew when to call it quits, you guys keep thinking that this alliance thing is going to actually work out for you and get bitten repeatedly...let it die already.
I mean s#!t how bad is it when the NC publically refuses to send a blob to help you defend your space?

I think IRON has had it's moons and corps change hands over my 3 years of playing more than anyone else. From the FLA/IRON/G days of Dek back in umm well..a while ago, to MAX and now TRI mk3.
They're almost like the lovable pinata of EvE.
They'll be back in one form or another. Fly safe kids, enjoy the bumpy ride of EvE and give'em hell eventually. |

Edited by: Cadiz on 07/06/2009 07:43:48 Stealing from the corpse when it isn't actually a corpse yet is pretty bad form, just fyi. The other guys who handed back their share of the assets did the right and decent thing. I guess I just come from the old and outdated school wherein if you decide to leave an alliance you null and void your claim to any of its assets. This applies whether or not you think the alliance you are leaving "deserves" those assets.
So disappointed in MELT :( ------ Exterminatus! "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |
