Edited by: Lady Xalan on 15/09/2004 07:30:24 Caveat - I'm rather n00bish, so be kind. Long story short:
A friend convo's me that she cannot complete a Mordus Goons mission (I don't run missions often, so I may be wrong). The last spawn is a 12K and a 100K, and had already sent her home in a pod. After asking several questions, I see that they are using missiles, and that she's not using MWD - no problem.
Warp in w/ a Punisher config'd as so:
3x Med Lasers MWD,Cap Recharger Dam mod, 200mm plate, Named Arm Rep, Cap rech
Hit the MWD and do a strafing run against the 12K, and here come the missiles... BOOM! I check my speed and yes, I'm going 1389m/s w/ the MWD on auto - must have been a lucky shot. BOOM! BOOM!
I warp in structure while the armor repairer gets to work - what the hell happened? I check everything, yes, everything is set fine... Check the log - it tells me I warped...
Over the course of the next hour, I did countless passes against these guys and here's what I have come up with...
Decapitator Light Missile:
* Hits for over 200 damage against shields, 188 damage against armor (on my Punisher) * Travels at over 1450m/s (I watched many, many times as these things tapped me as I MWD'd away) * Have at least a 30 second flight time (I was hit repeatedly at 45Km out)
The end of the story was that I killed the 12K, and got the 100K down to armor before getting greedy and losing my Punisher. So I called a friend who came in w/ a Blaster'rax and took care of the job in 15 seconds.
Now questions:
These missiles - are they TII, or did light missile specs change when I wasn't looking? Furthermore, how do I get some?
Anyone have any experience with this? As I said, I don't do missions much and have never seen/heard of light missiles going so fast, so far, hitting that hard.
Thanks for any input!

Decapitator does sound like T2 to me... As far as I know, those are not available to players yet... until T2 missiles and launchers BPOs get dropped, that is :)
Frankly, never had such hits from light missiles ever. Not that they hit me often hehehe

I've seen (err felt) a few light tech 2 missiles in the past, when doing the A Case of Kidnapping, where you fight 6 Bounty Hunter Rookies and a Durim/Shogon/whatever. The named one used to fire Bloodclaw II (I think, it was t2 anyway), but all they did was travel at a much higher speed than normal ones, they didn't hit harder.
This was a while ago (> 1 month) though, not sure if they still have those.

Well, nearly a hundred views and 2 responses...
Anyway, to the newer players trying to pull Lvl2 kill missions on a budget: pack your cruiser or a couple friends on this one - these missiles are no joke.

I had the same thing with Destructor missiles during the same mission. These things are light missiles hitting for 150 dmg against shields (never let it get to armor). They outdamaged bloodclaws shot from a Crow.
You forgot to add two things I think. Firstoff, it was a lvl 2 Mordu's mission. Second, the 100K is a commander. The other mordu's shoot normal missiles as far as I noticed.

All I can think of is that the 100k rat might have been named and using something we don't have access to. I guess you and your friend just got lucky. The Mordus missions are famous for surprising people. _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

the 100K Rat ist a Mordus Squad Leader and therefore a commander. The lvl 2 mission with the commander is rare, i've done over 10 mordus and only got him once. Needed 4 warp ins till I finally killed him. (fled 3 times with remaining armor like paper). I can't outrun these missiles and I can't stay out of range therefore infight is the only option and a risky one with that sort of enemy. Might try defenders next time I meet him.
150 damage to shields and about 230 to armour in my merlin.
but he is worth the effort, 100K Bounty and a Hardwiring Implant, i will do this mission happily again, even if i lose my Merlin full of named stuff.

I remember doing lvl 2 missions a few months ago and I got the mission where you have to kill the gallente frigs. They fired tech 2 missiles at me. I rememeber tehy went about 3k/s and the logged showed "you where hit by... missile belonging to EVE" or something. I belive it was on that missions but not 100% sure Cant recall what damage they did _____________________________________________

Agreed on all points - this was the most fun I've had in EVE since I started this game!
The reason why I am not an agent runner is because they were too boring. After helping out w/ this one, I'm starting up again - these Mordus missions are *very* hard, very worthy, and great fun.

Following specs are garnered from eve-i.com. The ship using the decapitator was a mordus squad leader:
eve-i mision drone info
Decapitator Light Missile I An ultra rare type of Light assault missile, manufactured by Kaalkiota. A very limited supply of these missiles exists, which are rumored to use stolen Jovian technology. Base Shield Damage 150 Base Armor Damage 187.5 Kinetic damage 250 HP Explosion radius 0 m Max Flight Time 25 sec Detonation proximity 35 m Max Velocity 2000 m/sec
Gotta give the dumb npc's every chance at survival . I like the specs considering its t1...wonder what the t2 version would be . Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. 'Abraham Lincoln'

I did it in a Breacher using a mwd. Just orbit at 25k spamming missiles - he can't touch you and dies quickly. Dropped a 2% agility implant and an Arbalest Launcher thing.
I dunno if i'm right in thinking this, but i've done loads of lvl 2 mordus missions and this one caught my attention from the start cos the first spawn had 12 ships instead of the usual 6. So maybe if you get a 12 spawn of mordus at the start be prepared for the Squad Leader when wave 3 comes.
