Edited by: Eventy One on 09/06/2009 14:37:23 Here are my favourite rumours that I've heard recently:
- Tech 3 Battleships are on their way - winter expansion
- More Talocan, Yan Jung rats are on their way (and you thought the Sleepers were bad!)
- There is an Interbus station in game - but it's hidden. It has an LP agent!
- We will see a race of Vampires (as a tribute to White Wolf in anticipation of another CCP MMO) just as Sansha's Nation are Zombies
- The Jove won't be playable
- The Jove will be playable
- CCP is cancelling the Fanfest
- CCP is providing free beer at the Fanfest
- Deployment of Infiniband is almost complete
- Cat o'Ninetails is a CCP Navigator alt
The above rumours do not represent my personal views, and I cannot verify their accuracy. I'd like to see some of the favourite (crazy) rumours, some of you have seen recently.

Fixed it.
And to add to the rumor mill.
- An undisclosed DEv has offered to let an undisclosed player take his 5k rookie fleet to the tournament this year if said undisclosed player can get 4,999 other players to man the ships.
- Chribba is quitting eve and giving all his stuff to me.
- CCP Eris Discordia, has tendered her resignation and is going to work for stargate worlds as a DEV.

Now that you mention it - I remember those rumours.
People have wondered what the bodies are for, more than merely ego collection items.
Another Jove rumour I heard was that CCP is specifically quiet on their long term prospects because fierce battles rage, and disagreements occur about how to actually deal with them.
Can it be confirmed that CCP does actually have a long term vision for the Jove,or will that bridged be crossed when we get to it? |

I know from a reputable resource that CCP are working on making rogue drones a playable race. Through the wormholes rogue drones gained a new edge of technology, evolving them into fully sentient entities. Through Sleeper technology, a player can digitize one's personality and download it into rogue drone vessels. On destruction of a vessel you get transferred back to a drone hive where you can upload yourself again.
I for one welcome our new nanomechanical overlords. |

One fun rumor is that if you cut your internet connection immediately after hitting 'jump' in a capital ship, you will end up in a non-existent Jove station, where everything (including ISD and Jove ships) is available for sale for 99 ISK. Undocking results in a game exception crash, and when you relog you will be in your clone station, with anything you bought. This has resulted in numerous people jumping cap ships around trying to hit that modem power switch at *JUST* the right time.
This rumor may have some basis in truth - I have also heard from several reliable sources that this DID actually happen after capitals were released. The player who experienced this later turned in a Jove ship he had bought for one of the first T2 BPOs.
The other fun rumor I keep hearing is that directly after the Apocrypha patch, the computer system that generates wormholes malfunctioned, causing wormholes capable of taking capitals to open in highsec. According to some versions, Goonswarm managed to slip a couple of capitals into highsec before the next day's downtime, during which a hotfix was deployed.
Given that there has been absolutely zero discussion of this on the official forums, I can only conclude that this is exactly what it sounds like: A rumor. ----------------------------------------------

*After many complaints,State Ravens were deemed too overpowered and gamebreaking by the devs,so they formed GM Wulfpak gangs and actively hunted the players who owned them and destroyed all but the 2 or 3 who refused to undock them.
*Bubbles disengaged MWD's.
*Eve has sound.

Best one I heard was Ushra'Khan and CVA/PIE were actually plotting together to eventually take over eve once the larger powers were weekened. Each one was working essentially both sides through their role playing faces.
Now personally I don't believe this but I heard it more than once and each time it seems more far fetched to me. or does it.

Actually, thankfully Canada didn't either given the rather dubious science blaming humans for global warming.
I'm certain we're a 1st world nation and we rejected the same silly protocol.
Actualy we (Canada) did sign it because we had a Liberal Government at the time which was full of Fail. But it really doesn't matter, because like Everybody Else we are not meeting the ridiculous figures required by the bureaucratic document. In other words the document has about as much meaning as it started out with, none, but I guess it looks good on the resume.

I stand corrected. Apparently we did. That was silly of us.

Rumour has it that Mattel Inc offered CCP a buyout last year. They would recode all shiptypes to become transformers in space and require extra skillsets to be trained. It got turned down because the idea was simply too good. (And there wasn't any beer included into the deal)

Meh fecking board not posting right - retyping comment.
1> Even if there is no proof that global warming is caused by man, there is 100% proof that greenhouse gasses make the effect WORSE. Restricting the emission of greenhouse gasses is therefore a good thing no matter how you look at it. 2> For any given period of time you would naturally expect 50% of the planets/moons in the solar system to be getting hotter or colder, its called the law of averages. Most of the changes are not outside of natural variations. Earth's is. A increase in solar radiation would show an increase in the temp. of ALL or almost ALL planets in the solar system not just a few.

Practically every report so far that came to that conclusion has been sponsored by an oil company. You don't think that might bias the results slightly do you! :)

Therein lies the problem - the actual problem is not perceived without political bias.
According to the economist magazine (forget which month), the sum total of all human contribution to green house gases is less than 7%.
Seven percent!
Which means all of the chicken little, sky-is-falling politics is bunk. This is NOT to say we shouldn't be responsible stewards of the environment, but it is to say using bad science and bad politics to justify stupid unfounded and illogical policies is just plain stupid.
If this were 900-1300 AD, we'd be blaming our horses for their green-house gas emissions which caused the Medieval Warm Period (MWP). That too, would be a load of horse manure.

If it were the medieval period we would be buring the witches as they were obvioslly the cause of the problem.
and yes using BS science and omissions to push a political agenda is quite a pantload. Awww Nuts. |

7% is MASSIVE!!!
Lets use a EVE based example here.
Lets say you are taking 1000 DPS of damage(greenhouse gasses produced) with a 1000 DPS tank(ocean gas absorbsion e.t.c.) with a EHP of 30,000
Now we increase the damage by just 7% thats 1070 damage per second. Instead of tanking the damage you now will be dead in 7 minutes and 8 seconds. A huge difference just from 7%.
Yes the 'OMG we are all going to die in the next few years' people are just as bad as the 'Theres no global warming' group, that doesn't mean that there isn't a reason to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to the levels the planet can sustain indefinably. |

I think we are both advocating moderation, from slightly opposite points of view.
Climatological history is a bit like the stock market. There are short, medium and long term trends - all none deterministic. All unpredictable.
The fact that we had a Medieval Warm Period shows that this is a non-deterministic dynamic system.
Like the stock market, we can see short term trends, after the fact; like we can see medium and long term trends, also after the fact. Try to predict these trends, and all credibility is completely lost.
Fact is that we've only recorded climatological temperature for what 100 years? Before that, the data is completely reconstructed. What's rule number one of making observations in science? (Use the same measure to measure all data).
We've seen a recent warming trend. There is no science in the world that can show this to be unusual (without making itself look dubious).
No one disputes that we've seen warming. People dispute that any of this is effected by us, in any way shape or form.
Here's what we do know:
I agree we must live sustainably, but because that is the right thing to do - not because our climate depends upon it!
