COME ONE, COME ALL. COME SEE WHAT COMPETITION IS ALL ABOUT. No weÆre not talking how much ore you can mine, or how fast your ship goes... I'm talking unadulterated ship to ship combat. Sound interesting?
We are proud to announce the revival of the Tetra Games. This service was started over a year ago by Chillin Cold and had some success before being shutdown due to the workload it required on the one person running it at the time. Now, with the aid of a larger administrative staff, we are re-opening the Tetra Games once again.
The goal of Tetra Games is to provide PVP in a controlled environment with rules and guidelines to keep the matches relatively fair and interesting. Don't think that fighting is the only incentive here though, there is also a betting system to help ensure that the fighters (and even the spectators) will have a chance to make a profit off of the fights.
We offer everything from 1v1 duels, to skirmishes between small groups, and even custom matches. Conflict resolution, open tourneys or tournaments limited by alliance/corp can also be hosted.
If you want more information, feel free to ask here, or join us in the "Tetra Games Public" Chat channel and get your questions answered in real-time.
For a list of Rules and guidelines, subscribe to "Tetra Games News & Events" mailing list.

Well, we want to get a lot of fighters signed up and get fights going regularly...so we DO talk about fightclub, and hope that others will too.

We're still looking for fighters for the Tetra Games.
We support fights involving everything from Frigates to Battleships, T1 or T2 (probably T3 sometime too, if it ever stops costing an arm and a carrier =P)We have guidelines in place to support fights involving most any class of ships short of capitals.
1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and so on. Custom matches can be worked out as well.
So swing on by the chat channel mentioned in my first post or subscribe to the mailing list to get your questions answered. The more people sign up, the more fights we can arrange. So, if you're not afraid to put your ship, your ISK and your pride on the line, sign up and step into the arena!!!

Ha, I was talking about something exactly along these lines last night with a pal.
"Eve needs some kind of profitable gladiator style PvP event where people can bet on the outcomes, fighters can get paid - and 1v1 PVP can live again."
I just figure it would be better saying "If you need isk, instead of grinding missions or mining - how about entering into a PvP event?".
I find it stupid how, in EVE - where everything is motioned by PVP - one cannot make a "respectable" living as an arena pilot. Its a valid form of entertainment (like the Alliance Tournaments), you can bet on it - get paid to fight...
Such a thing would have been way better recieved than Faction Warfare imo. |

Yeah, I know I thought something like this would be cool even before I knew about it. When Nakedallday (same guy as Chillin Cold) joined my corp and mentioned this, I jumped on the chance to help.
I really think this could be a fun buisiness to run. Get people together, hang out and watch some fights and so on. The people who get the real benefit of this are the fighters. The only profits that the staff running Tetra Games makes are from entrance fees and spectator's fees, and those aren't that much really. We're simply a 3rd party as far as the bets are concerned. We take the money, hold it and then pay it to the winner.
We're hoping some people show some intrest. Veteran PvP'ers, Carebears who don't want to go into lowsec get ganked by 15 people at a gate and die in 10 seconds, Indutrialists with money to burn and the itch to fight someone, people who just want to have some assurance that they will get the kind of fight they want (we all hate it when someone doesn't honor a 1v1) and so on. We really hope this can appeal to a wide audiance.
The guidelines and rules are set, and we've done a couple dry-runs within our corp to get the choreography of moving the fighters and spectators around down...so at this point we're just waiting for people to sign up. |

Also its not underground, you make a post about it on the general forums, if you'd have kept it out of publicity it might have been.

Yep, your choice whether you use the service or not. We aren't trying to replace or tone-down PvP by any means. Just provide a place to have a fairly equal matchup arranged, organized and implemented (and make sure BOTH parties abide by the rules they both agreed on)...and give the fighters a chance to make some extra money from it. Its also meant to be a little entertaining too, and we hope that a fair number of people will want to watch these fights.
As far as the underground thing...I'd have to agree =P But I mainly posted the advertisment Chillin already had made (with my own tweaks to make it better) Calling it underground does make it seem more badass though. lol.
Its more akin to UFC, Pride fighting, and so on ( + gambling, of course). We want people to know about it. The more people we get to sign up...the easier it is to make matches and keep fights going regularly. Word of mouth and support from fans will be critical to getting this thing off the ground.

Edited by: Chillin Cold on 18/06/2009 04:22:05 Thought I'd chime in. Over a year ago I started this. The fights got to about 4-5 matches on Sundays. This proved to be very time consuming, and i was unable to keep up. Used to have a kill board. (Trying to get another) Used to have someone frap'n fights. Had a thread that reached over 9 pages. all in just 3 weeks. Nobody got burned, and all fighters were very happy. All bets are paid as soon as I log on that account after the fight, and send the isk. No wait time. You win, you are paid, Period.
I just sent some of the fighters that participated over a year ago some eve mails so they can vouch for me.
The cheapest enrollment is 125,000 isk. this is for a T1 Frig Match. You can bet your opponent any amount, including 0.0 isk. The risk a new member might take to try it out is 125,000 isk.
Also, to help ease your "trust" in Tetra games, there is, in-place correspondence. Every time you send isk. you get a receipt, this will be traceable so you (the fighter) can be protected from me (tetra games) Wanna set up a contract? By-all-means. No problem with that at all.
I hope this post will get you to join the in-game channels.
See ya there Chillin Cold |

EVE arena has about 2 dozen holes in the rules that are wide open for exploration. These matches are at least officiated by judges and opponents are matched up based on their SP... which goes a ways to making it somewhat fair. |

Not as much as you'd think. The only profit we make off of the fights are from the enrollment fees from the fighters, and the viewing fees from the spectators. Both of these really aren't that much. We are strictly a third party as far as the bets are concerned. We get them from the fighters prior to the fight, and pay them to the victor as soon as the match is over. We don't keep any of the bet money for ourselves.
The only way we're going to make any decent money off of this is if a LOT of people sign up.
We're mostly doing this because its something we all want to do, and we think it will be something that a lot of people can enjoy. This is a long-term business...not a get rich quick scheme. There are ways to make a LOT more ISK than we could through Tetra Games...but this is just something we really want to do.

Hello Neesa,
I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on where these holes are. Our service is still young and as such there's plenty of room for improvement.
