I'm having trouble deciding which one I like better, I use both regularly. The DHP setup seems to just last longer (obviously) in a fight but I feel gimped on dps.
1. Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Mega Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Medium Energy Neutralizer II
Quad-Lif Fueled I Booster Rockets Sensor Booster II Medium Cap Booster II [800]
Damage Control II Adaptive Nano Plating II Adaptive Nano Plating II Heatsink II Heatsink II Heatsink II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
5x Ogre II
2. Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Dual Heavy Pulse Laser II [Scorch, AN M] Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I

I have Amarr battleship 5 and I hate active tanking Amarr ships, save for a very select few.

Both are viable, but the DHP is far more friendly if you are a newer player. |

id stick with setup #1. The amount of DPS youre doing will negate needing another plate. Less DPS just give the other dude more time to kill you :) |

I just discovered that an unrigged Abaddon has about as much EHP (if you fit 3x heat sink on both of them) as a trimarked Armageddon.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
I like dropping 2x mega pulse laser down into DHPL (yeah, yeah, mixing guns) because then you free up the grid for a heavy neut and you still keep most of the DPS. Also the range difference isn't that considerable.
Even better, the game handles the slots such that the 5x mega pulse lasers are on either side of the ship whereas the 2x dual heavy pulse are on the top and bottom, so it looks sweet. __________________________________

Less damage because no heavy drones and its much more expensive.

Assuming you go for cheap rigs on the Abby, only the initial investment will be more expensive compared to a trimarked Geddon. |

I use the Abaddon but prefer to use it's advantage by having an active tank with no damage mods.
Mostly for low sec, in other words, otherwise I find the 'Geddon can do it better for cheaper. |

Geddon pretty much loses it's point if you don't go for full gank, so mega pulses + 3 HS + sentry drones imo. Abaddon is a far better ship once you start doing compromises, dropping heatsinks for eanms etc. Also, dhp do far less dps than mega pulses, I really don't like them.
On a side note active tank on abaddon? The resist bonus actually works perfectly for the buffer tank. Having a rep on top isn't a bad idea, but going for a real active tank is.

This looks quite nice, you loose one HS but gain a remote LAR and 2 cap boosters for stable cap even with it running

I find the lack of a warp distruptor on any of these setups disturbing.
But perhaps you will use the ship in a gang and have a dedicated tackler... |

Soloing in a battleship these days is only for those with balls of steel and money to burn. Hence lack of disruptor, if you're in a gang and the battleship is tackling, you are doing it wrong. |

i prefer geddon in smaller gang fights where my ogres have time to go to the target (cant use t2 sentries YET) and abbaddon where i just need pure gun power to rip stuff apart :)
megapulse + scorch... hay was that a recon that blew up ?? :P |

Not having a point on a 3 med slot battleship is forgivable.
