What do pirates take into consideration when determining how much isk they want for a ship ransom? Is it a portion of the ship's value + suspected module value?
Do pirates just make up numbers, or is there a standard when it comes to ransoms?
How much is too much to ask? |

I'm sure real pirates will be along.
I go for a number that's under the cost of the ship + suspected mods - insurance.
Unless the person has peeved me off, then I'll triple it just so they say no and I feel justified in blowing them up. |

I usually go for the cost of the ship, but if they scream that they 'will pay' when pointed then the price goes up 'cos you know they have something they don't want to lose.  |

No such thing as a standard.
Ransoms often determined by making an educated guess about his Fit and Cargo (its pretty obvious if someone must be using deadspace shield boosters for example), how old the character is and what kind of mood the Pies are in.
'Too much to ask' is whatever ammount they are unwilling to pay. Sorry, no easy answer there.

Kill ships, ransom pods. If you really want to ransom the ship, have them eject with the promise of not podding them (works best in 0.0 with an interdictor, although a lot of low sec people will go for it). |
