It is in great sadness that I pass on this news to friends and extended family in Eve. Martin Abildgaard, known in game as Carth Jared passed away last Wednesday morning. Martin was deployed in Afghanistan with the Danish Armed Forces when his convoy was hit by an IED killing Martin and two of his friends instantly. He leaves his loving parents and younger brother.
I first met Martin in Eve in 2004, from then on we were always close friends and stuck together through most of our corp history. Those in the Mercenary Coalition also had the pleasure of seeing him at Fanfest 2006. I'm sure all his past corp mates and friends in Eve will agree he was an amazing person, always friendly and helpful to those who knew him. He put 110% into his army training and it was clear he had found something he loved and was truly proud of.

So sorry to hear that mate.
My girlfriend's neighbour has done two tours in Helmand and his family always worry for him when he is deployed.
No matter if you agree with the war or not, at the end of the day someone - be it Brit, Dane or Afghan - is losing their father, brother or son and that's hard for anyone to take. |

I can't say it any more eloquently than Loxy has. One of the great things about our corp is the feeling of family that we tried to foster, and Carth was part of that. He will be deeply missed. |
