PS3 is nice, but no console for me.
What's the word on the PC release? I'm sure you need willing volunteers to make sure the PC platform will be stable (hint).
At lease a teaser would be nice. |

Lots of teasing, including a quote on twitter along the lines of: "Well, we didn't enable keyboard/mouse support for nothing ;)"

If you want the 560ish ti 3d capable uber SLI graphics on the bigscreen, play Eve PC. ( previous technonerd card reference overkill ) If you're willing to settle... go get a console.
you get what you pay for. dust is a console shooter. blown up on a 50+ inch hdmi+ tv... it'll never outshine a custom gaming rig.
Still waiting on the promises of what can be done with the PhysX modeling in Eve PC. Would love to see the limits get tested. |

I dunno, I'm kinda liking the PS3 exclusitivity to it, at least initially. Though a PC release would be nice. It'll provide a great distraction while mining, running PI, waiting at a gate camp, etc. It's very simple, really. If you see Tengus on scan, they are ratting. If you see a shitload of Tengus, the Russians are blobbing. If you see Proteuses on scan, they will be on top of you in about a second. If you see a shitload of Proteuses, the big boys are having a goodfight. |

Honestly, I hope a PC version does not come out. The advantages a player with a keyboard and mouse holds over a console gamer is massive, as has been demonstrated on multiple occasions with fps games. And if they did, and were looking to mitigate the performance differences, I can only see two ways of going about it.
1) Segregate PC from Console. This would effectively lead to two separate shards both having an impact on the Eve universe. Even with careful planning and controls in place, one would dominate, and the other would die. Given that this is CCPs push into making our universe more accessible, that would be unsatisfactory to say the least.
2) Performance nerfs/buffs for PC/Console, respectively. This would lead to sentiments of unfair treatment by the devs, and I could see it hurting overall performance and participation in Dust 514.
I am, obviously, just voicing my humble opinion. But I can't realistically see CCP releasing a PC version. Citatic Inc is recruiting! See http://citatic.com/forum for details. |

Console direction = Arcade direction. Destroyed almost every good game-series. If thinking about shooters... its bad to see many going primary for console than pc. Even if a PC of DUST would be released... it would just be a port with big console-style menues and interfaces that doesn't even deserved to be released on PC. |

The plus side is it's entirely possible you will be able to transfer your PS3 rights to PC. I know they did this with Portal 2 through Steam anyway, with automatic cross platform download and play access. I'm not 100% sure but I think Steam incorporated save data transfer between PS3 and PC for that too.
Steam seems intent on setting up a PS3 Steam access account and introduced a Portal 2 Steam version for PS3 as sort of a first run. I don't have Portal 2 so I'm not entirely sure ho it worked out, or is working out, but it's cool that they got this kind of functionalty planned. At very least, if Steam gets it your code should be transferrable provided they have a product key or something that can be used for this.
No idea honestly, but I know they've worked it in for other things.Saves buying it twice anyway, if they make that available. Hopefully they do, and hopefully they'll make it Steam cross platform too. Would be nice to log in and play from either if/when it hits PC. ^this would be great. i've only ever owned one console (PS2) and i don't plan on changing that any time soon. i <3 my mouse & keyboard too much. plus i'm terrible at console FPSes. |

Hopefully the console version will die asap, so they can either put out a PC version, or bury it. Either way is good. |

You realize there are at least 10 PS3 gamers for every PC gamer (and 2 xbox gamers for every PS3 gamer in the US). Have you seen the sales stats of an recent cross platform games?
I suspect it will be at least a few years until you see a PC port. My guess is the PC port will come out around the same time as the PS4, so the two games can run similar. PS3s lack the power of modern PCs, its pretty hard to make the same game for both systems (look at battlefield 3). I don't think CCP wants a watered down console version and a superior PC version which means they would have to wait for consoles to improve. |

Don't worry, since it's already been teased, we can expect a WiS/Incarna development cycle, so we're looking at an early 2050, if we're lucky.

Another thing to consider is that most of the people I have seen who want to play this on the computer are EVE players, which God love us, there aren't all that many of. The PS3 has 100 times the user base and thats not an exaggeration.
And Dust bombing on PS3, as some suggested is desirable, would seem to be devastating to the long-term success of the game. |

And it wouldn't be so great for CCP either. Speaking of which, anyone have a link to the microtransaction description or however CCP plans to monetize Dust? I never did see that. |

Not sure where you got that from. As of 2010, US PC gamer population is 170 million, not including players of casual/browser games. Total US console gamer population is 32.9 million, much of it minors with limited purchasing power for microtransactions. Among consoles, Wii, geared toward casual/children has more sales than PS3 and Xbox360 combined. Console gamers tend to own multiple types, increasingly with PS3 and Xbox360 neglected in favor of Wii.
CCP is targeting a small and shrinking PS3 playerbase that has shown no interest in Dust... |

While common sense would dispel the numbers here--you propose that about half of the total US population is a serious PC gamer--I assume you are vastly misquoting the information from this survey: http://www.gamespot.com/news/us-gamer-population-170-million-npd-6214598
The long and short of it is that the quickest growing segment of the population is 'male console gamers' at over 30 million people, and the 'avid PC gamers' are at 17 million.

I am glad someone else beat me to it, because those numbers were so skewed. Like I said earlier just look at any cross platform game to see where today's gamer is. In the first week of launch BF3 sold over 1.5mil on PS3 and over 2mil on xbox, yet under 500k on PC. http://www.gamezone.com/products/battlefield-3/news/battlefield-3-xbox-360-sales-nearly-double-ps3 Couldn't find MW3 stats, but I assure you there is a similar pattern. |
