In the recent weeks, I've noticed a steady improvement in CCP's direction.
Take a look at the General Discussion index and see the swarm of blue and red pins. CCP are active again, and are both trolling and answering community questions. Even random ones which pop up in inconsequential threads. The "Answer all questions" thread has been admitted as a failure. Sad, but pretty ballsy. New, shiny forums with SSL encryption all over, even though it results in higher usage of CCP's forum server/networking. No images, yet, but there's no backdoor open. The recent patch for Incarna which increased CQ performance yet again and improved the lighting. It should have been released this way, but CCP are fixing instead of adding broken content endlessly. A Winter expansion aimed at fixing EVE's "end game", 0.0. Constructed almost entirely out of forum feedback, too. Shiny nebulae, establishments (Actual Incarna!? As promised!?), the rest of the CQs, super-cap balancing, an eventual hybrid balance and hinting at a new cyno effect (again )
So, what have CCP done wrong recently? Not much. The bitterness and cynicism are just leftovers from Incarna's release. I, for one, am thinking that CCP is trying to regain the community's trust, and is doing it rather well. We will all "wait and see", and there will be those who always have something to complain about, but I think CCP is improving. |

I think the devs are on a mission to have a Blue or Red Flag on every post on page one
Will this thread get one?
Also i agree with the sentiment, the recent amount of info coming from CCP is great. |

It's nice that they are giving some feedback and implying that they are listening but we are still very much needing to see some action put behind any promises that might be made.
Indeed time will tell, but I wish to encourage CCP to continue to play an active role in the community discussions. It's something that has been sorely lacking going all the way back to the T20 blueprint incident. "Why can't I be different and original, like everybody else?" |

Not to mention the recent good posting from t0rtifrans, letting us know that ship spinning will be back with CQ only a click away, AND the return of the old module icons.
I guess it's stupid to praise them for putting things back into the game that they deliberately removed for no good reason, but it's better than gold ammo and monocles. |

Yes it's good, and it does improve the mood, but we've seen it before, and after a little while it fades away...

Trolling is not prohibited in these forums and posts of this nature are disruptive and do not contribute to the sense of community we want for our forums. Shame on you.

This game, even with it's many (many) flaws, is still too damn good for a last gasp. I'm not trying to say that this is the friggin Rapture or anything like that, but I'd say we're starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Winter expansion is make or break for CCP in a lot of ways. I think the current dev activity (with the unquestionable highlight being torfi's little ray of sunshine) indicates that they understand how perilous their position is. |

Its absolutely tragic that the same people who wanted more FiS are the same people who wanted spinning back, and took up development time on such foolishness.
And quite frankly I am amazed at CCP's response, which is bending over backwards to give "players what they want".
Regardless, good job CCP. Almost great if it wasn't for the minutes scandal and lack of communication on FW. |

Better than them having wasted resources on CQ to begin with. Or PI. Or pretty much anything they've done since Apocrypha.
Does this apparent change in dev attitude represent them being on the right track? It's impossible to predict since we can't tell whether or not the company is still a big frat house that promotes based on who can tell the dirtiest jokes instead of on competence. Now, if CCP put out some dev blogs about what internal corporate reforms they are doing to transition from "dudes with some luck" to "professional game developers" then maybe I'd believe EVE's expiration date is more than 2 or 3 expansions away. |
