Actually, the UI in World of Warcraft is great and miles ahead of EVE. This is coming from an interface designer. |

Please let me move the Damage Window like we can all the other windows, or even close it. Or, any other option that will get it out of the middle of my field of view during combat. |

They either cant or wont change the UI, which is a shame. Ive tried to get people to play w/ the trial only to have them quit in disgust of the awkwardness of the game. This thread, along with all the others going back years, is a waste of time.

There were two more UI things that annoyed me today, although I can only remember one at the moment.
The targeting system is crappy. I constantly see people accidently blowing up their own wrecks on firing on their own people, you can't use a remote module on an ally and then prime an offensive module meant for someone else without that module trying to be used on the selection you already have targeted.

Put in LUA
Allow user designed interface mods, it would fix all the current moans about it.
There I said it.

Better "negative effect" indicators so you can immediately know whether you are scrambled, neuted, webbed etc. and which ship is responsible, and be able to target from the indicator icon. This dumbs down skill though, so I'm on the fence on the idea.
we have the indicators already but they are at times too small so we do need something better.
a good idea would be standard debuff icons that would light up when the effect is on you. clicking the said icon would show current enemies putting that effect on you.

Add NLIPS I think they are called, what homeworld used.
Where it renders the ship much bigger than it really is when zoomed out so you can play without brackets and still have half a clue what the heck is going on.

Waste of time, but:
- Fully customizable keybinds without the need for alt, ctrl, or shift. Having to press Enter, followed by /local blah blah blah to type text would be fine with me.
- Ability to combine all text chats into one window, with messages color-coded by source/channel.
- Functional and useful combat log instead of those stupid black rectangle popups in the middle of the screen.
- Minimap.
- Useful sound feedback. Let me turn down explosion sounds, and turn up webifier, warp jam, and ECM sounds, so I can tell, with my eyes closed, what type of crowd control I'm under the effect of. Also, I hate watching bars (or, circles on the HUD in this case); it would be nice if my ship groaned with strained metal and hull popping sounds when my armor gets blown off, if my shields buzzed with electricity sounds when being depleted, and if my crew screamed when dying cause I'm into hull damage.
- Useful feedback in general. EVE focuses so much on "You cast ECM. You cast Railgun 01 for 13 damage. You do this. You do that." I know what I'm doing, dammit, I've pressed the buttons. I want to hear and see what the OTHER GUY is doing TO ME.

1. Better overview customisation (colours & stuff) 2. Possible overview filters 3. Visual Bookmarks 4. Current system bookmarks get moved to top of places folder 5. Possibly a visual directional scanner cone, not really important but an idea. |

If they allowed WoW style custom UIs every flaw with the UI would be fixed within a week by the players.
EVE's UI makes me sad. :[ |

I tried to do this for two years, starting in 2006. It didn't help one bit. They don't care about UI or HCI.
Colorful! Actually, since it takes about three years to fix outrageous things, some UI improvements are about due.... You may take credit of course.
Here's another two:
Would love to be able to open containers in the Asset window remotely, to view contents.
Would also love to be able to "split stack" items remotely in the Asset window.
How many times have you wanted to give just one item to a corpmate, and ended up contracting a stack of 10 to him, just so he can send you 9 back? And what if you want to sell less than all of an item? Awkward and dumb.

Edited by: buttesauce on 26/06/2009 06:42:50 it would be really nice if on the one thing with the warp to, orbit, keep at range, ect if it had multiple ones in a row going down and you could set each of them differently.
you could have 3 rows and not have to worry about quickly switching it if you need to change your orbit or whatever. you would have 3 sets to use!

Really simply one for me. Right click option on a item (or item link in chat) to be able to search contracts for the item.
So basically an equiliant to view market detail but for contracts.
Only has to fill in the exact type for you.

1) Everything is movable and scalable! BLOODY EVERYTHING! 2) be able to change settings (aka overview, module placement, everything else that you see on screen in space) in station 3) have autopilot route display while docked. |
