Hello
The description of the Rorqual states that the 5% bonus to the mining gang links is only applied when in deployed mode. That means i need heavy water to get that bonus. Is that worth it? Esdpecially that we now have the orca which proviedes a 3% bonus for free.

kinda depends on how many people you have mining doesnt it. If its just your rorqual alt and your hulk then tbh your better off just using 2 hulks. But if its a 20 man mining gang then your better off with a rorqual as thats an exstra 2% yield on each ship |

It's worth it in terms of money to deploy it, as it only uses 10,000 Heavy Water per 5 minutes, with Heavy Water being about 20 isk p/u. Now, I don't know if it's worth it in terms of risk. The Rorqual can't move during while its deployed, so if you're in a semi-dangerous area, you may not want to use it.

Drop the rorq in a POS and its mostly safe, I'm pretty sure it can still deploy there? If you have a decent number of hulks, then the extra couple percent adds up fast, and you also get to compress ore.

It's a pretty expensive ship to use JUST for the leadership bonus, so trying to determine its worth based solely on that is not looking at the whole picture. However, if you compress your ore WHILE boosting, it starts to earn it's keep much quicker (asuming not being near an outpost, that is).

Nobody mentioned it, but the 5% bonus is per level, and it's to the 15-20% you get with the ganglink (and the implant boosting that). Total volume added per hour/minute/second is around 33% for the Orca (with the ship skill at level 4). The actual bonus to cycle time is something like 27.8% (all other relevant leadership skills at 5).
Park the Rorq at a pos, shuttle the minerals back to it for compression. Minimum sizes needed for the gang should be 3+ hulks and some indy/transport/orca with big volumes to carry from belt to Rorq. The minimum Hulk # might be higher due to the POS and logistics issues other than the heavy water...
The heavy water is a drop in the bucket (pun intended) compared to the yield increase for whatever you're mining out there in low-sec/0.0. Worst case, mine a bit more ice when doing fuel ops for your POS(es). [Also sped up by the presence of the Orca/Rorq!]

I'm not quite sure on this, but I think ganglinks only boost those fleet members that are on the same grid as you?
If this is the case, a deployed Rorqual at a POS with active ganglinks would be of the same use like a deployed Rorqual at a POS without active ganglinks [at least as long as you have not mysteriously managed to set up a POS in an asteroid field, of course ;)].
If ganglink bonuses are applied to all fleet members in the same solar system you should just ignore this post ;)

Boosting, in any form, applies to all members in the same system. The modules are merely tweaking what your Leadership skills already provide.
Rorq parked in a POS is just about the most common usage around. As for the costs of deployment, just consider it an independant part of your POS and take the heavy water into account when you arrange fuel. |

Mine takes about 772/774 (at work right now can't check) units of HW to run one cycle of the Industrial Core. In short, hell yeah its work it for a fleet of miners.
Two Hulks and a BC/CS/Orca with Ganglinks + mindlink is sweet though. |

... with 0 skills, get Capital Industrial Ship and Industrial Reconfiguration to 4 and it goes down to 600. (500 with both at 5)
