Goon the new evil empire?

machyphy	Posted - 2009.06.25 01:14:00 - [1] first i choose no side in this discussion, i find the antics of both sides equally funny. so up until BoB/Kenny died they were "the most elite PVPers ever", seen as the cause for everything wrong in nullsec(from to many titans to Dev help), and just very easy to dislike. So since goonies killed BoB does this mean that Goon is the Evil empire now

About the only thing that changed was some colors on a sov map as all the silly stuff everyone gripes about that was happening before is still happening now. Nothing new to see here. Just use EvE Search and look up their past posts - their whole purpose in EvE is to screw over as many non-Goons as they can - it's the Goon ethic at work (if it can be called that). Just look at their host, the SomethingAwful forums, to see that. A larger collection of trolls and villany has yet to be found.

Be careful with information like that or unintended results may manifest themselves. Remember the whole goonie 'thing' about joining mmo games is to totally ruin the fun of others. I'm fairly certain that the devs for games like second life and hello kitty would shake in thier collective boots at the slightest prospect of a goonie invasion in a game not designed for grief play. This is the payoff that drives the goons to such lengths of arsehattery in the first place. However in eve not only are they just another group of arsehats they are welcomed by the devs as a positive influance to the game as they need an organized arsehat entity to let the 'good' guys have to shoot at. Yes goonies CCP fooled you. You are just part of the gameplay and nothing special at all. Welp..

However the manner in which they beat out their only signigicant opponent leaves the door wide open for them getting knocked back out of delve once the warm fuzzy glow of the napfest wears off. Then maybe the member corps who did all the real work to take delve will decide that being a part of the swarm now bob is gone isn't really all its cracked up to be. Or maybe the frantic ongoing diplomatic gestures by mittens will keep it all together. Time will tell and the clock is running.

NereSky Gallente The Good old Days	Posted - 2009.06.25 06:16:00 - [27] Imo the old BoB were seen as the evil empire by many (even myself in the old days) but they actually fitted the part quite well, i remember when a small gang of them entered the North on patrol everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off a bit like the parody of the big blue on killer8's flash vid Goons have always tried to emulate them and tbh it was alliances like BoB which created them with the mentality (at the time) of only recruiting the best from the best leaving 0.0 only avail to high skill players, which made a niche' for goons. (every exploit BoB found Goons have took it a few steps further, its a case of everything you can do i can try to do better syndrome) But like any child being jealous of the power someone like BoB had Goons have tried very unsuccessfully to try to emulate the presence BoB had ingame which they will never ever be able to do While the old BoB will always be considered the elite, Goons never will imo As far as evil empires are concerned, i dont think it was Bob's intention of being evil just everyone eles tried to put them in that category however BoB i believe liked this and used it to great effect and played their part well, their presence alone would shake most Alliances even before the engagement, In a way and a certain POV, BOB created Goons, i suppose it was only fitting Goons played a part in their downfall. Goons will never ever be taken seriously on their own, cept for the worry of spys and infiltrations they represent. As far as the new Evil empire is concerned well the playerbase decides that , as good/evil/indifferant is based on perceptions Eve atm is as bland as the balancing of the ships now BoB is gone - shame really

But then, there are not many alliances in EVE at all who you can call good guys. At least if you are trying to be objective. This because everyone is seeking power by robbing others. Besides Good guys dont tend to live for long either, and if you add to it its usually more profittable being a bad guy in eve.. wel the answer is usually simple! Also BoB/Kenny/Kenzoku was and is no more "bad guy" or "good guy" than the others. They where simply better in what they do. And for that they where loathed!
