A Badger is an industrial ship intended for hauling goods and sometimes used for PvP silliness. It is NOT intended nor recommended to serve as a mining ship.
Even if you strap on the best mining lazer to your Badger, you'll quickly discover just how long it takes to fill your cargo hold. A mining cruiser can mine the same volume of ore in a fraction of the time it would take an industrial ship to mine.
You're much better off getting an Osprey and mining with it instead of mining in a Badger. You wouldn't complain about needles when you get a tattoo. So why would you complain about PvP when you play EVE? |

Miner II/Gallente Mining Laser.
What he's looking for is something he can set in a belt, turn on the laser, go to sleep, wake up the next day, log in, and get ore. not a bad plan tbh. except it's Hulkageddon. |

actually it's a great idea. just be sure you're in a low-traffic area, not Hulkageddon, fit cheaply, etc. It's just a little bit more ISK while you're offline. not enough for me to really be interested in it anymore, but meh |

Yeah I did this too, you should only be doing it for fully afk income as the mining laser will take ages to fill up your cargo, but I wouldn't recommend training Mining too high if you plan to be a combat pilot in the future, just train it to 3 (takes a really short while) and use a meta 4 mining laser. |

The important answer is no. Strip miners cannot be fitted to non-specialised hulls like the badger. You will be limited to one of the mining laser turrets. |

Yeah when I first started playing EVE, I got a Sigil, slapped a mining laser on it, pointed it at a roid, and took a nap.
I wouldn't recommend it during Hulkageddon, and it's not an ideal solution. Mining cruisers are better. Find a quiet system, mine, jetcan, haul when the can is full. |

Well, the badger has 5,000m3 of space compared to my mining barge, the retriever, which only has 1,900m3 of space. And it would only take 17 hours of training for me to hop into the badger.
I make good hauls as it is without being ganked with my retriever. But I just want to increase my load capacity. |

.....really? A BADGER?
Why not spend a few hours to get into an Iteron 3, which has comparable storage capacities, then a little bit longer to get an Iteron V, which has, hands down, the BEST storage of ANY T1 Indy.
Hell, I can rig/fit it with 2 WCS and T2 spanders and it'll still hold 23k m3.
and that's why I LOVE my 30M throwaway blockade runners (30m vs 200m...hmm.....) |

I did this in an iteron V years ago. I would set it on a big roid and then go to work. When I returned the hold was full of veld. You don't earn much, but it's better than nothing when you're just starting out .

Sure, you'll have more load capacity, but you'll kill your mining rate. Overall, it's not worth it as, despite having to travel backwards and forwards to drop off your cargo in your Retriever, you'll get more ore for time spent mining and travelling etc in your retriever than in your badger.
If you want a bigger load capacity, work towards a covetor and then eventually a hulk and fit them with cargo rigs/mods. |

Yea it will take you a very long time to mine in a badger and if you are planning on going down the mining route getting yourself into a retriever as fast as possible is the way to go. You can fit the retriever to have much more cargo space with Rigs and cargo hold expanders in the low slots.

I've done this as well. Took a Mammoth with a mining laser, scanned out the biggest roid in a belt (Survey scanner) orbited it at about 5000m (that way if someone bumps you you just move back towards the roid), turned on the mining laser, and went off to watch a movie. When the roid pops you just fly off in to space away from the belt. Just make sure that you have some sort of basic tank for the belt rats.
If you actually are going to want to make a profit while at the keyboard though, just about any other ship would be better to use. The Unified Inventory system for Inferno, which I would recommend everybody tryon SiSi, is going to be the next 'Door' for CCP. What it adds is worthless when we lose so much functionality.-á |

OK!
Thanks for the advice, everyone!
Since I want to upgrade my capacity, instead. What do I need to do so? Do I need to train for any skills, also? I have 38 days until I can get the hulk. :( |

There are 3 ship fitting programs and a couple skill training programs you should download and learn to use while you are orbiting that roid. look up EFT EVEHQ PYFA and EVEMON.
Consider building your own covetor, you can pay it off in just a few hours whereas the Hulk takes a week or more depending on how much you play. Hulks are over priced and have been for a while. Meta34me

I did the same with an Iteron III when I first started out and didn't know anyone in-game. Didn't say anything as I thought I was the only goof-ball that did this.
Nothing clever at this time. |
