Edited by: Alt Sauce on 25/06/2009 21:27:10 I'm curious... how many non-industrialists fly freighters to move their own stuff? I'm just talking about regular PvPers who use them for personal, non-corp use.

I'm thinking about it. I can already fly transport ships... blockade runners are incredibly useful given the speed with which you can train them... and from there to flying a freighter is a very quick train. |

kill rights make it too risky for many.

These questions always bother me. When are you an industrailist? When are you a pvper? I have very poor manufacturing skills, not very good science skills, can fly a t1 fitted hulk, but havn't done so in years. I still have tons of use for a freighter(which I can fly), most of my income is not from pvp or even missions. Clearly I'm a carebear? That said my main passtime would be pvp.
That said it still wouldn't apply, simply because I always, whatever I fly, ask around in corp and alliance if anyone else needs something moved. Granted this is never done in a freighter but blockade runners and carriers mostly. Why would I want to keep the cargo to myself, it's not like whatever I need moved will be an integer number of freighterloads, there's always decimals. Parrots, commence!

I can but never have.
I think carriers fill the role of moving stuff better for pvpers tbh |

A carrier can be very handy yes, especially with its rr and fighter but an orca would probably be a better choice for the normal pvper as it is easier to ninja around unlike the 'come blast me cyno beacon of doom' that you have to set up to move a cap around. As far as a freighter its really good for moving pretty much your entire stock of assets around empire and a bit risky in low sec or 0.0 due to not being able to fit any wcs to it. Though in all cases a scout will almost always see you through as long as you are patient and can wait out camps so you can get a clean shot transit. |

I can fly freighters on three of my accounts (or am currently training for one), including my primary PvP account. |

the ultimate thing would be a jump freighter since it can cross that null sec / high sec line. But the price... |

I have an alt that just flys a frieghter. He is neutral with everyone and in a NPC corp. I just let him auto-pilot all day doing me and my corps high-sec's logistics. He is more than able to afford his own game time card every month with all the hauling it does and i only have to spend maybe a total of 5-10 mins a day messing with him. Nice thing is that he can skill up all the stupid things that are nice to have but i would never waste time on my main doing. |
