So, I was looking in the store and saw the really cool gallente patch and thought that it would be cool to actually affix it some how to an existing surplus uniform, say Air Force or US Navy or Possibly some other countrys? But I wanted to kind of make it as accurate as I could to do justice to any existing art if any exists. So the purpose of this post is to see if anyone knows of any art that exists depicting a Gallente Navy Officers uniform. As I like to get started on my Halloween costumes early I am posting this now.
If no art exists does anyone have any ideas, I want to base it around the gallente patch here. I plan to loss wax sculpt the buttons to be made from pot metal most likely and also design insignia patches and such and have them made.
Any thoughts? |

Master Chief sports some badass Gallente armour, inside sources confirm this to be legit, and that he does infact, wear a Gallente uniform. |

Battle dress uniform would likely change depending on conditions.
Then we do have the old background pic: http://www.massively.com/gallery/the-birth-of-new-eden/1006574 http://www.eveonline.com/events/gallente/
It likely isn't a uniform, but a picture of a suit used by the President here: http://www.eveonline.com/background/potw/default.asp?cid=30-06-08
A dancing Fedo doesn't likely count: http://www.eveonline.com/background/potw/default.asp?cid=27-03-08
There's also a cartoony pic of a Serpentis uniform here: http://www.eveonline.com/background/potw/default.asp?cid=30-07-07
Seeing any sketches about the Walking in Stations suits might give hints, but not sure if there's that much being published yet.
From the character creation pictures, I'd expect the Gallente to wear something very well-fitting, or quoting Torti Frans "You cannot put that on without a vacuum pump", though most likely, the day-to-day suit would be called in current age a jumpsuit. If it is comfortable on, and looks cool (that's the another important part), then it's okay.
And oh, one of the few mentions of an actual uniform, in the "Two Deaths" chronicle: "He nodded to Mentas Blaque, who stood at the back of the podium, dressed in the now-familiar black costume of his newly formed Internal Security institution..." - when talking about the Gallente Federation, specially about any ultranationalist influences, you can go pretty far to the domain governed by Godwin's Law.

Thanks for that very informative reply, The picture of the Serpentis uniform is an intriguing one as you could assume that the Serpentis are a spin off of the Gallente navy in some way, the yang to the navy's yin. Often rouge "military" organizations will still use the uniform of there parent, or original military. This being an assumption derived from many movies as well as some of the paramilitary, or "militia" groups that operate in the central US were military surplus items regularly. Based on this and the reference to the black uniform it could be claimed that it would be accurate.
However, the thing I find a little troubling is that the Gallente patch is in fact green. You would figure that the uniform would match the patch, but then again it could just be the patch that you would find on a flight suit or jumpsuit for instance, this Which would take the place of the us flag for instance. In which case for a dress uniform you could suspect they would have a silver version of the logo possibly?
