You didn't state what you wanted it for.
Drake is one of the most obvious chooices for pvp as caldari.

Either half the people in this thread are idiots and have no clue, or are idiots that enjoy trolling threads. Drake is fine, even great, for PvP. More tank than any other BC with great range on its ammo, whereas other BCs have to get within a couple km to do anywhere near their EFT damage potential.

The people who think the drake sucks for pvp are the ones who fly/fight pve fitted drakes and see how fail they are in pvp. If you actually fit the drake properly for pvp it's superb.

You forgot to mention that drake also gets to choose its ammo/damage type without having to sacrifice range which is a huge plus in my book. Sure, if you use kinetic missiles you get a damage bonus but only idiots would only carry scourges/terrors.

Since you're pro (and I'm an astronaut) how about you give us a proper response on why you think drake sucks? Post a fitting and analyze it. I can say "apocalypse sucks for fleet pvp" and I can also say "I'm pro at pvp". Yeah, I'm sure the entire eve community will take me seriously and worship me as their new god and supreme overlord.

You aren't, unless you have a main/alt. Since Mar last year, no kills and 4 losses (2 pods, 1 noob ship and a T1 frigate) do not a pro pvp make.

Drakes are NOt BS's. They aren't as flexible as some other ships/designs. However, they CAN PvP, with the right set-up and skills, as long as you keep in mind it's strengths and weaknesses. It can strike from a goodly distance with HML's and last damn near forever, or it can shield tank in-close and do better damage with Heavy Assaults.
It's not an EWAR, Speed boat, or even really a tackler. It's a slower, but nearly unstoppable damage dealing tank (no pun intended). It is EXCELLANT for lvl 3 missions and LoSec PVE, and can be an invaluable support or bait ship for gangs. Highly skilled pilots can do most lvl 4's with them. No, it doesn't have the damage of an all gank Harbinger or Brutix, but it won't blow up after 1-2 torpedo hits either. Know it's strengths and limit's and it will serve you well.
P.S. I don't know why some supposed PvP players claim to hate it so much. Maybe it's because they don't want other people to know the easy-tanking goodness that is the Drake. Or, maybe they're not satisfied untill they show 1000+ DPS in EFT, but get blown up by the first ship to target them.. But the Drake is a very good ship for what it does and is a nice addition to any Caldari/missiler's arsenal.

Like anyting it depends on your skillset.
I have to disagree with the Drake not being able to put out a good DPS. It CAN - you just need to have all your missile skills maxed out and specialized.
Not to mention (for a missileboat) the range is rediculous with maxed skills and specialization.
I can easily hit targets over 75K.

In complete agreement with Gypsio. A drake can still fit a comparable tank to other BC's, do more than adequate damage, and fit 2 TD's. Pick an enemy geddon or baddon or what-have-you and make them your EW b*tch, and still contribute a healthy amount of DPS against the primary target.
