The people who abuse alts usually end up alt farming - the create one, use him, delete him, create another one. It takes a while to delete an alt, I dunno how many hows exactly since I never bothered with thm.
Here's the trick - for every time you delete an alt, it would take TWICE as long to delete him next time. After a few deleted alts, people would stop, cause it would take forever to delete.
How about it?

When will you people get a clue? ALTs aren't likely to change anytime soon. Ephemeron... for someone who has NEVER done the alt thing... you are good at just throwing stuff out there hoping you are getting close to the truth.

Why? Because sometimes when people want to delete their main and make a new character, it takes many characters before you are happy with the result. Been there, done that. If the only viable alternative would have been to buy a new account alltogether because it took 89 hours every time I changed my mind regarding an attribute point, I for one would be a customer CCP wouldn't have.

That's why they added a back button to the character creation screens, plus if it's cumulative you should get a few goes anyway without too much time between making chars, at least 2 more goes right away of you don't have alts to sart with.

By the way, I should emphasize that I really, really support the idea of only having one character per account. But giving cumulative punishments bound to an already flawed system is just bad imo, it's an half-arsed solution to a problem which can be more thoroughly fixed.

I think it's a good idea, but the people making mischief with alts will get around it pretty easily without other changes to how CCP handles new accts. CCP would need to put in something like a respectable setup charge on new accts or ppl would just cancel a 2nd acct and start a new one if creating new alts on an existing acct got to be a hassle.
