Originally by: CCP Zymurgist Here is a step by step instruction for how to connect to Singularity. Singularity is a public test server which is used to test upcoming changes and fixes and give developers feedback on these. Feedback is usually posted in the Game Development forum and any bugs are reported via the Bug report system. What is special about the test server is that while you have the same skills as you do on Tranquility, most items are available on the market for 100 ISK.
Read this before you join the server:
Since this is a test server, there are special set of rules. Make sure you read them here: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=253187
Here is another thread that is very useful to read: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=46836
How to
*Do to constant updates to the Singularity server patching a Tranquility client to Singularity client will not work. Please see the next section to connect to Singularity* If you have already installed the EVE Client, skip to step 3
1. Download the Tranquility client: http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 2. Install the Tranquility client 3. Rename your install to "EVE Online TQ" or something of your choice 4. Install another copy of EVE Online, download the client here http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 5. Rename that to "EVE Online Singularity" or something of your choice 6. Go here: http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity 7. Download the latest Tranquility to Singularity patch 8. Execute it and point it to the install called "EVE Online Singularity" 9. Note that the client you just patch changed name to "EVE Online" again. So, rename it to "EVE Online Singularity" again 10. Run the client.
How To, Part 2 *updated September 21, 2010*
If you have already installed the EVE Client, skip to step 3
1. Download the Tranquility client: http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 2. Install the Tranquility client 3. Rename your install to "EVE Online TQ" or something of your choice 4. Install the full Macintosh version of Singularity, download the client here http://www.eveonline.com/download/?s=singularity by clicking the Mac link. 5. Run the Client 6. Note: You may still have to apply the changes to info.plist in the section below.
If the client attempts to connect to Tranquility instead of Singularity:
Read the "Configuring the SiSi client to connect to the correct server" on this page
Full details on how to connect to Singularity can be forund in this thread. The Test Server: Information Listing also provides valuable information.
Comments, questions and ideas are very welcome.
c'mon, be serious..
1. Load Bootcamp for WIN 7 or your OS of choice.. 2. Refere to Windows instructions for how to connect to Singularity.

Complete crap... seriously emoragequit frustrating over the past 24 hours. I've had to download the entire client 5 times, and it still doesn't work. I've been patient over the past year, trying so many times to get sisi to work on any of my computers. IT HAS WORKED NO MORE THAN 3 TIMES.
Am I pleased to know that sisi is available on Mac, yes (which... really? are we really to that point where we should be happy to be treated as normal people?). Am I pleased by the way it doesn't actually work, you can guess that one.
The instructions are bogus and in one instance can't even be followed at all. The patch has never worked. At best it only takes 1.5 hours to download the entire client, only to find that that one is somehow the wrong build which doesn't even have a patch available but says that it needs one. Then I find that once I think it's going to work... the server is down and there's another, newer version. Great, only 4.5 hours on this download. I'll save that one for overnight. What? It failed to mount? Oh, ok... Smile, take a deep breath. Download again. Fail. Again. Fail. Forums.

I love how this thread hasn't been updated for a whole year leaving useless and outdated directions for mac users who are left entirely in the dark. Although hell I guess since mac isn't even working on tranquility now why should they bother with singularity?

hi Following the release of Incursion 1.4.1 and that Sisi are TQ are ment to be running the same mac client, I've attempted to redirect my client to Sisi but have failed...
Is it me or the instructions???
Followed the instructions on http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mac_Bug_Reporting problem seems to be with redirecting the client in the config file, this is an Unix Executable file and opens through terminal and i can not add any text into that document. The image on the web page show a picture from the old way then redirection was done through the Info.plist
Anyone successfully redirected the client?
Look forward to getting on sisi for a day or two, well maybe.
Thank you for any assistance.

Considering CCP Zymurgist's post was was updated in September 2010, and there have been a bunch of updates since then can we verify that these steps still work? Maybe there's a new-updated way?
I'll tell you for sure the steps listed here didn't work for me last night. All I got was a bunch of crashes while trying to get Sisi onto my new computer.

This DOES not work.
CCP needs to at least reply and let us know what is being done to solve this issue or if Mac users just won't be able to get onto Sisi. Either way is fine, but let us know.
Growing tired of waiting for an answer.

Yeh this thread is crappily out-of-date. As of right now, there is 'no patch' for the mac client according to the client, so hang on till they fix that.

Just downloaded a Duci client. It does run, but tries to connect to the Sisi server no matter what I do. Redirected it to the duci prefs file and added
[AppDefaults\\EVE.exe\\transgaming] "cmdlineadd" = "/server:87.237.38.60"
To the config file. No go. (Oh and its incompatible with sisi, so the log in screen is all you see).

Well I'm having a slight problem renaming the Eve Online.app. It's saying I do not have the permission required to alter the name... Anyone know what I can do to get past this? Internet spaceships game = very serious business! |
