hey people of "Out of Pod Experiece"! This is my first post in these here forums, and I have done some previewing. The very mood of this forum is relaxed, which is a pleasurable atmosphere for me. I might even stay :)
Anyways, onto my question: Anybody studying university level business? Does it involve alot of statistical calculations? I am going off to university to get a Bachelor's in Commerce this September, and just wondering your thoughts on it.

Welcome too OOPE. We are typically a fairly docile crowd, but we can show our teeth when necessary.
I had many friends in undergrad that were business majors and they all had to deal with stats and I also think calculus, but I am not sure on the calculus. That being said if you want to go into business you best plan on going on to an MBA; for all the people I know that just got a bachelors in business are sitting behind a telephone. But then again if you know the right people I guess a bachelors would be enough to get started.
My sister and my brother in law both have MBA's and the guy I am renting from is working on his MBA also. They all have mentioned statistics. That is about all I can offer.
P.S. Arvald propositions most people at some point so partake if you feel so inclined but be warned the cloths will come of in short time.
EDIT: There are also those out there that would say screw the schooling and just go out and just start a business that you are interested in. Some of the more successful business owners in the world have had no formal education. You can learn pleanty with a little research and a good bit of reading.

Virtually any Bachelor degree that is not regarding The Arts requires statistics.
Even then, some Arts students will still use statistics! EVE history

Yes there will be stats.
There's the obvious Finance, Accounting, Economics stuff -not all of it 'stats' but plenty of maths.
Less obvious things like Marketing will have statistics in the form of surveys & market research.
Your 'core' subjects will have some type of quantitative analysis subjects but after that it will likely depend on your choice of majors.

Welcome to OOPE. As long as you don't act like an ass or discuss religion/politics then this is a very happy place.
